like when you get a carpet pulled from under your feet, you fall so hard and quick your head hits the floor as your feet shoot into the air. the same feeling of getting floored is usually described as head over heels when you fall in loooove.

to be head over heels almost always means that one has fallen madly in love in an impetuous and unconstrained way.

Have you ever done a summersault? Better yet, a summersault downhill? I have actually done that. I was jogging, my funny ankle malfunctioned, and as I started to fall I rolled in a summersault instead and stood up and kept jogging.
