I am using Singapore's - Singtel ISP

1. Example if I want to change my Siemens Speedstream 4100 DSL modem to an ADSL modem(eg D-link model). Do I need to make some settings like entering my IP address in the D-link ADSL modem or what...so i can surf the net?

2. My Siemens Speedstream 4100 DSL modem can't be portforward(maybe using a semi-crippled firmware) as it only can surf the net. If I want to portforward, what can I do?
Is it to buy a router and set my siemens dsl modem to bridge mode then it will work OR some other suggestions?

Well, a speedstream modem passes ALL TRAFFIC so it shouldn't need to PORT forward all ports are forwarded!

If you are attempting to setup a server (which is the only reason you need to forward ports) and you can't get it to work, you need to check with your ISP. They may have some ports blocked in order to prevent this! In which case their terms of use probably prevent you from getting those inbound packets. Modems are NOT ROUTERS just connectors.
Modems are in "bridge" mode.

lots relies upon on the 'N' router you have obtained, in case you're taking a seem on the instruction manual it is going to permit you recognize if it somewhat is completed.... in case you have no instruction manual than a rapid 'suck it and notice' thank you to do issues is to plug an Ethernet lead from between the ports of the Sky router to (in lots of situations) port between the 'N' router & then plug (with yet another Ethernet lead) into your laptop from the 'N' router...if that works then save on :) If that fails then you extremely ought to study the 'N' router instruction manual... it relies upon on the router features. playstation - no longer too undemanding changing your Sky modem using fact the username & password which you require for yet another ADSL modem are encrypted in the Sky modem :( - could be completed even regardless of the undeniable fact that it may require you to be exterior the words and stipulations of your Sky settlement :( HTH
