I couldn't believe what I heard yesterday, I was listening to the radio about these paedophiles being castrated and the interviewer asked a man his opinion about this, the man replied it was a violation against human rights. What about the violation against human rights when the dirty men who do these evil acts to a child! The child doesn't aks for this. I say castration to all paedophiles , it shouldn't be voluntary either.

Castration doesn't work all that well. It might prevent some sex acts buy not all of them. The best thing to do with a pedophile is life in prison.

Unfortunately the Human Rights Act is used to stop criminals paying the full penalty of their crimes.
I Dont though, believe that castration is the answer to peodophiles. Like killers and rapists etc there are many different types of peodophiles. There are those that do it for the power, the chance to be in controll. Others because they have no boundries on their sexual feelings, And some are victims themselves and are doing what they think (and have grown up with) as normal. Different sentences are needed for the different types of paedophiles. Some could with intensive therapy be restored safely to society, others will never be safe to be free.
Castration on the wrong type of paedophile (the controll freak) could make them into killers in revenge for what they believe society has done to them. They do not have a logical mind and will always blame others for what they themselves have brought about.

I don't think it's OK ... unless they want it done .. there are institutions where those people can be kept away from other people, and some other treatments. If somebody did that because they're ill, they should be having a therapy, and if they did it because they're simply bad, they should be locked away, but I don't think anyone has nay right to just cut off a peace of someones body. Where would be the end to that ... I mean .. people used to cut off hands of thieves. And one more thing: imagine someone wrongly accused! And they prove their innocence ... what then? A bit of super-glue, and everything is fine? And with a sentence like that, do you have any idea how many cheated wives would make up storied about that ... this is a strange society, and truth is never absolute truth, it's only based on what we know, and our knowledge grows every day. I believe the best thing we could ever do is not make mistakes that can't be fixed. I don't think a solution for decresing aggretion could be increasing legal agression!

Once again: the terminology of "paedophiles" is massively misused.

Of known (convicted) sex offenders, child sex offenders are a subset. Paedophiles are a small subset of child sex offenders, preferrential paedophiles are a smaller subset and those that are predatory are a smaller number again.

The risks they present are persistently over estimated, of most convicted sex offenders only 10% are reconvicted, far less than any other type of crime. Of those supervised by the probation service and identified as presenting the most risk only 0.6% have re-offended against children.

Chemical or surgical castration is lazy and unproven. It focusses too strongly on the biological urge, which is only one component, and neglects the emotional, social psychological and psychosocial needs fulfilled through sex offending.

Should this trial become policy it is pandering to an ignorant and vindictive streak in the public, rather than any constructive sense of dealing with the problem.

I can't actually get my head round asking a paedophile, " would you like castration". I presume this is done to reduce the libido. Even if they did that, there are still drugs one could take to increase it.

Life in prison.... No parole...... life meaning life....... I'll bet my cuppa tea it would be a better form of punishment.

and I totally agree with you, about the guy saying his rights were violated, why dont we go and ask the child about "his" rights.

Yes its not as simple as some people think.Abuse of kids takes many forms.Castration is only a part solution .If a person takes it upon themselves to abuse or"feels compelled" as they say to abuse then they will..Also we would need to be a hundred percent sure that a person is guilty , it would seem that some abusers are very clever and secretive ,we have been fortunate that many were caught through their use of the internet.Of course the welfare of children is paramount and we should all do our utmost to protect and if we feel that any child is in any danger then we should notify the relevant people.I also have no time for mob rule ie people taking the law into their own hands.Leave it to the people we put in power..

Why do you think that any paedophile that go to prison does not last long before they are killed. Any person that does this to children should be castrated. These type of people should not be allow to breath the same air as we do cause they are scum of the earth.

that's a hard one as i believe castration dose not always work and is it not the brain that sends signals that make you horny and what you like ie men or women blond or red hair long legs ect and looking at it from a crime point say a shop lifter do you cut there hands of that wont stop them and be4 you get a annoyed i was raped by a man when i was 14 so i wish there was a simple solution but i do not think that is it wish their was though

It goes a lot deeper than that... these people aren't just doing that sick stuff because they are horny. (most) Everyone gets horny, and you don't see us being evil about it. Lock them up in jail, execute them; but if castration WERE the chosen solution, I'd be worried it would make it easier for these people to get out early, because some idiot parole board would think they must be "safe" now that they are castrated. That just would not be the case, they are still sick as ever, just without functioning balls.

Castration for them is good but what about the children who are subjected to this and live with the memory for the rest of their lives, I wish there was some way it could be wiped out for them.
