We've never lived in a Democracy. Our government has only used that term to appeal to the Capitalist nature we've been living under for the past somewhat years.
But if you look, the Preamble to the Constitution calls us a Union, and the Pledge of Allegiance calls us a Republic. Nothing at all said about a Democracy.

No. We are slowly being led into a plutocracy where the European Commissioners are the Plutocrats and the European Parliament, which is nothing more than a rubber stamp for the Commissioners has been set up as a scam to make the Plebeians (us) think that we live in a democracy. Meanwhile much of the aforementioned are skimming off a lot of the European tax payers money for the highlife. Bring back Madame Guillotinne.

According to bionomics which today is nearly the most advanced technic (based on the comparative bioeconomic analogies) there is no a contry in the world so far which has ever been a 100% democracy. Because, being a full valued democracy requires a sort of a human right (besides known) which is currently missing because of the lack of the social science's development. There is no chance to give details here. As for immigration bionomics says it is a harm for any society. It offeres interesting solvations. I strongly recomend to get some of it. If there is anybody interested, go to the International Bionomics Institute's official web site: www.bionomics.ru/indexen.htm
I am ready to answer any questions on this subject.

The public are the people who put these people in a position to make these decisions, it is the way that representative democracy works in the UK. If people do not like the decisions that are being made on their behalf, then they should simply vote for somebody else at the next elections that they think represents their views more. True democracy is not a practical thing, it would be impossible to get the whole population to vote every time a small decision like 'which road you can use'. People would not do it! Apathy is ripe in the UK, but i would say that democracy is apparent in the UK, but only up to the state that is it practically able to do so.

Yes we do still live in a Democracy. In the government development scale we are still a Democracy. We are Almost at complacency Stage, but not close to the Dictator stage.
The people still have the Freedom and control.
The hole fat children thing has nothing to do with Democracy.
The People vote in there state on ware smokers go to smoke. It has nothing to do with the government.
We voted for them to take under construction and road construction and it is up to them ware they tell us ware to drive, thats the peoples choice.
America is a good country I dont know why your freaking out, any other country besides Britain and Canada is struggling with Democracy.
Dont let the Media deceve you into this BS.

My Dad fought to free Britain from Tierney, and he believed it was the right thing to do, ask him now and i wonder what he'd say ? It seems we are being told we cant do this,we cant do that, so much so that its does feel now that we are living in a dictatorship. I wish you luck with your new life, and only wish i could do the same, but due to family, work and age, its not so easy for me to leave at present, but do intend of getting out of here at the first opportunity.

Government has intruded into everything that people do and have. Thus, it is perceived by many that democracy is already a thing of the past. Government must regulate the society but freedom must be respected.

Democracy like every other political ideaology sounds really good in theory but never actually works in reality. With globalisation in full swing the western world is actually ruled by capitalism. Multinational companies are calling the shots rather than elected governments.

Democracy is ruled by the arbitrary dictators. No powers are vested in people. The people are powerless and helpless.
