I am Scared of the dark outside But not in the House .... Well if My man is at home It does not bother Me but if for Some reason he is not here I have Every light in the house on Just to be sure I do not walk into a dark room. If I have to Go Outside At night I have to have someone With Me or within running Distance

I am completely totally scared of the dark ...alone or with someone...like I'd rather have a gun held to my head..(yeah I know a bit extreme but true). It ....as irrational as it is is one of my two fears. I sleep with the TV on and there is always a light on..not a door cracked like you..you are braver then me =). I am older than you (36)...and still *blush* sleep with my teddy bear that I have had since I was 2. My husband doesn't love the bear too much..lol."get him off my side of the bed".If this isn't honest I don't know what is.

Honestly, no. I've never been afraid of the dark, even as a small child. Perhaps I'm just not very imaginative? But to me, it was just dark and time to go to sleep, and I found the darkness very comforting. I prefer complete darkness to the dim light of a nightlight, which makes weird shadows and somehow turns the darkness into an enemy.

I'm not afraid of the dark in my bedroom just because there is enough light through the blinds that I can still see around me, the dark in the basement is another story, I can't stand to go to the basement at night even if the lights on, and its a finished basement too.

Sometimes I am and sometimes I'm not. If I hear a weird sound outside or sometimes I just don't feel like being in total darkness, like I'm scared or something, I will quickly put a light on. Other times, I just can't sleep with a light on. In my old house, it was haunted, I always had a light on, so it's nice to not have to have one on all the time. I'm 27 btw.

I'm 34 and the same! I have two kids, so I say the night lights are for them, but they're really for me. I have one in my room "in case they get up in the middle of the night looking for me."
Before I had night lights, I did the bathroom light/cracked door thing, too, though only when my husband wasn't there. Just like you, if he was in bed with me, no problem about the dark.
The worst is when you have bad dreams. This still happens to me on occasion, and am I ever glad to see a little light on when I wake up.
I'm so glad you asked this question. Now I know I'm not the only one!

OMG! Are you my long lost twin or something? LOL! I can't stand the dark! I am like a kid. I get like night sweats and stuff in the dark I have to have a night light in almost every room of the house because I have to get up a lot in the night. (because of my baby) If my husband isn't home, I have to have the TV on too. I think I have read/watched too much scary crap over the years!
