what's your modem type? if it's a dsl modem, it usually has a rj45 jack that would be compatible on your ethernet port. some has usb connections and even serial. check your modem or at least get someone to check that for you (like your provider)

Its Depends on what type of modem, normally laptop comes with internal modem, and driver will also comes in that, if not goto the web site of that particular brand laptop and download the modem driver and install it. if your laptop is not having internal modem, and if you have external modem connect the modem to seril port and install the driver for that modem.

If it's a "DIAL UP" modem, use the serial or USB cable it comes with
If it's a DSL modem, use a network cable.

Use a WLAN cord or Ethernet cord to connect it to the WLAN port on your laptop to the modem then, there usually is a dial-up port there too, so just connect that side to the wall jack with a dial-up cable. Use a Dial-Up cord to connect it to the Dial-Up port on you laptop and then to the jack in your wall. If you are having specific problems, contact me. I hope I've helped.
