I have the same problem and i still can't find a fictional series as great as Harry Potter. I don't think there is one. His Dark Materials are good, Narnia is okay, you're best bet is to go to barnes and noble and look around the section where they sell harry potter. you may find somethng good.

First of all I don't think it's bad at all that you are 15 and Harry Potter was your first real book to read. I began reading the series when I was 22 in now 28 and it was my first real book to read that I enjoyed as well. Just like you I went searching for another series that held my interest and I did not find one.

However I did start reading books by John Grisham none of them are in a series but he is a great author and he is the only author that really holds my interest the way J.K. Rowling does. Most, if not all, of his books deal with Lawyers it's allot of court room drama stuff like Law and Order but you might enjoy them my two favorites are The Firm and The Testament.

Of course nothing will take the place of Harry Potter but that's why it's such a phenomenon, that's why the series has made the top of the charts in pre-sale records, that's why there are video games and an amusement park being built based on the books. It will take allot for anything to ever surpass Harry Potter and nothing has done it so far. So if you are looking for entertainment outside the world of Hogwarts and number 4 Privet drive you may need to look completely outside the Fantasy genre entirely for now.

Good Luck

The Shadow Children series by Margaret Peterson Haddix is amazing. It's about a time in the future where third children are not allowed due to food shortages and are killed if found. The series has 7 books and all of them are amazing and suck you right into the plot. You can read the beginning of one of the books here:

Another great fantasy that's one of my favorites is Remnants by K.A. Applegate. It's about a group of people who are the only survivors after a comet hits the earth. They had been sent into space on a ship to be the last hope of civilization. This is a great series that will keep you wondering what will happen next.

Some other great books are the Everworld series by K.A. Applegate about a group of friends who find a gateway to another world.

They're kinda dorky but good lol

Hope these help! :)

Maximum Ride Uglies Hunger Games City of Bones Twilight is rather not anything a all like Harry Potter. There's no plot to it is only a horrible ebook approximately a creepy vampire stalking a few dull lady in which as Harry Potter is genius with plots and subplots for the period of the complete sequence.

There are several series that I like and that are REALLY good:

DARREN SHAN BOOKS: a normal boy turns into a vampire (not like a bat, a bit more original that that) to save his friend but his friend ends up betraying him, it goes on with evil vampires coming in called the vampenese, although it hasn't got a very good ending they are great books. (first one= cirque du freak, 12 in total))

UGLIES: this is set in the future where everyone is an ugly until the age of 16 then they get an operation to become a pretty. Tally is told she is not allowed to be turned pretty unless she follows her friend Shay, who doesn't want to become pretty, and tells them where Shay is.
(order= uglies, pretties, specials, extras)

THE MAGICIANS GUILD: This is set in a magical place where once a year the magicians put a spell around the city in order to keep the "slums" out. When the barrier is put up some people throw stones at it but it does nothing because the barrier is magic. Then a girl, Sonia, throws a stone at the barrier and it goes through and hits a magician. Most of the book is her hiding from the magicians but the end is her at the magicians guild. There are 3 in total
(order= the magicians guild, the novice, the high lord)

If you are into sci-fi at all, you should check out Ender's Game, by Orson Scott Card, and it's sequels and spin-offs. The book is about super-intelligent kids in the future being trained by the military to lead humans in a war with an alien race. It is a very character driven, coming of age story, not wholly unlike Harry Potter. There is even a movie in the works, tentatively scheduled to be released next year.

Don't forget, you can always go to your local library and check out these books before buying them.

Sweep by Cate Tiernan. Its about a girl discovering wicca, but she gets into so much more trouble than she'd ever expected. Theres this whole historical element about it that makes it seem real, and at the same time, theres this whole made up magical world she ventures into. Not litereraly a world, but she discovers magic, and it changes her life, some things for the better some for the worse. It's a 14 book series, with one sequal book about the girls daughter, and each book is about half an inch thick. So they're quick reads, but GREAT story line.

I fell in love with a series called the Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan. Its written simple, but written better than Harry Potter (I think). It has about 10 books, you just get addicted to them. It has several mian characters unlike other books and the small characters are always refered to later on. It has power, romance, humor(I just laugh at loud at some of the things the characters do/say/think), adventure, suspense, slightly scary parts, irony, etc-everything and anything you could possibly want in book. The main characters are in their twenties-late teens, and the others are every age(10-500 yrs). A young man and his 2 best guy friends ( and his crush)leave their village with a mysterious and powerful woman and her warder after it is attacked by trollocs(ugly). THe lady know s one of the boys has to save the world from the Dark One. This boy also risks going crazy by using the power because the male half of the power has been contaminated. THere are really powerful evil guys called the Forsaken who always try to kill them. THey travel lots of different lands with strange people, and theres a realm of dreams. The guys and girls are almost equal in power and importance to the plot, but not.

If you love the supernatural, love, action, and especially vampires read Stephenie Meyer's Twilight books. It's not as scary as you'd think. If you're not really into vampire lore, these books will get you into it. It's about Bella, a new girl in a small town who finds out this boy at school is a vampire. Meyer gives you a different perspective on what vampires are like (ie. These vampires have powers!). Twilight (1) and New Moon (2) are out. Eclipse (3) will be out in August. It's not too difficult, and the language is straightforward.

Try Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern series (Dragonflight is first in series). She has several other series that are very good reads. Also, you might enjoy Mercedes Lackey's Heralds of Valdemar series.

If you like wizards, werewolves, vampires, etc, you might like Jim Butcher's Dresden series (the first book is titled Storm Front). He also has a fantasy series that is very good(Codex Alera is series title, first book is Furies of Calderon).

If you like outer space, I enjoy Sharon Lee and Steve Miller's Liad stories (Local Custom is first book in the series).

I hope you find some more books to like that will make you love to read! Check them out at your local library to try before you start the series to see if you want to buy them. Or, you can check out the author's websites, most have good descriptions of the books and series to see if you might be interested.
