If they aren't intellegent enough to understand issues for voting on laws, then why are they intellegent enough to understand punishment under those laws? The same as the womens rights.

I'm asking this because my dad had to work in DHS for awhile, and the way they treated the kids like they didn't understand anything, it got me thinking on their rights (almost none!) so i thought I would ask.

Oh and the womens rights thing is more of 18th century womens rights, when we pointed out we had no say in the laws but were still punished by them.

The laws are the same for adults and children. The sentencing is usually handled differently for minors. With minors, the courts try to prevent the juvenile from continuing a life of crime.

Laws are made by the legislature, congress, or other governing body with the constitutional right to make such laws and ordinances that are permitted by the Constitution. In the U.S. and most other countries, that we vote for the people who represent us in government. Very rarely do we actually vote on laws.

The only children that are tried as adults, at least to my understanding, are children that have committed particularly heinous crimes that demonstrate a definite inability to function successfully in society. If a 16-year-old commits a murder as a result of a burglary or gang war or whatever, if he's tried as a child, he cannot be incarcerated beyond his 21st birthday, I believe.

However, tried as an adult, he can receive a much longer sentence and society is protected from a predator.

I don't understand your reference to women's rights. It's not a complete sentence. Are you saying women aren't intelligent?

Because Adults make the laws, and many of THEM are not intelligent enough to understand the consequences of their actions where children are concerned.
