Obviously if you don't believe in anything you don't want to get up in the morning. Your powerless to motivate yourself. What you like and believe in makes you want to live. If you don't have anything to live for, hunger won't make you eat. We do something because we think or believe it is good and we want it. I guess you believe in the values, that something is worth something and worth the effort to get it. I think the purpose of life is to live and enjoy it. Some things have long term value and others end up bad so you don't belive in them or do them. You can see down the road that it won't work and will bring more pain and not joy. On the other hand short term pain can lead to rewards and strenghten you. I feel good when I overcome a problem, strong. You know your going the right way to what you want. Suceeding causes confidence. Confidence is 'with faith'. Faith you can do what you want. You believe in yourself, your philosophy and your ability. It's tested and works so you believe in it. The belief is because it works and the power from the knowledge tool to do the job. You have the power to do it, get it and understand. Sometimes we've done the work, but don't see how we can win. The intuition tells you how. The mind is fully activated by postive thought and can then find a way. If you half hearted about something you probably won't get it done. Is half brained any better. Problem. If you get one thing you have to give up something else. If you take the low road you will miss the view on the high road. If you take the high road, you can't get a wagon throught the mountains very quickly. Every choice has some advantages and some disadvantages. With a positive attitude, though, your enthusiam can get more done and see more possibilities. You can have a relatively successful career and home life also. You're energized, empowered. Obvious, but we forget.

The power of belief in the mind can make a life heaven, but it can also turn out to be a complete hell in existence.

If someone believes in everything then that someone does not have to live. He is she does not need a life that is so packed full of doubts and dubious situations. Why on earth a man who is capable of believing in something absolutely powerfully should be bothered at all about the imperfections of a realistic material life? This man is destined for heaven already, and life here upon earth for him is clearly a waste of time.

Then there are the ones who wouldn’t believe in anything. Now, these people would argue with everyone about everything. To understand, and to understand everything is the mission here. What for instance is the purpose of life if one cannot understand it? What is this life is unfair? Shouldn’t then we be doing something about it? Something? Something like what? Such people have mastered the skill of falling fast asleep in the middle of life, and that sleep is their wakefulness far too strong and merciless in its spell. These people would doubt if they were made for this world but would never understand why they have to go one day.

The power of belief in the mind a balancing power; the balance between what we know and what we do not know, or what we can know and what we cannot know. The fact in knowing is that life is journey from one unknown to the next; the times before our birth, and the time after we are gone, we do not understand. But believing on the other hand is journey of life unending, a life forever. For the purpose of fullness of our mind and therefore that of living, we have to surrender to something absolutely powerful in the mind to make sense of all this. The balance between knowing and believing is the balance between our faith and doubtfulness. With the power of our beliefs we create a faith where there is doubt, and space where there once was nothing.

What do I "hev" in mind? I think it's alright to believe in something if you've thought it over, looked at it from every angle, and have analysed it thoroughly. That's how I know that the existence of a god is not only illogical but also highly problematic.

Our society is based upon conformist principles. They have us believe that if we are not told how to behave and how to act (television, media, governments, institutions) then the world will be in chaos. The underlying belief is that we are all not to be trusted to manage the world as a collective group and that we need a set of elite "leaders" to tell us how to live and define what is important for us.

What needs to happen is that the government gives more authority to local individuals and communities, and act as simply a body that aids in resource distribution and property rights - nothing more. We don't need "great leaders" we only need each other.

The answer is so simple I wonder why it is not clear to you. This is what happens, no matter which god you believe:-
You pray for something and it happens exactly as you wanted it to. That proves, to you and you only, that your god exists
:
You pray again to your god and ask for something and it doesn`t happen.
Conclusion: it`s your `gods` will that it should not happen, so that`s ok.
Whatever happens, it is all in your mind but not many people are intelligent enough to view it like that.
Finally: if it`s going to happen, it will, without any help from you.
If it doesn`t happen, means it was not going to happen anyway and just because YOU prayed for it to happen, has no bearing on the outcome at all.
The upside is: praying is a comfort to you, and that`s a good thing, but there are no gods who make something happen just because YOU wanted it to!
How about all the people who, simultaneously, did not want it to happen?
Well, OK, it`s obvious your god does not favour you - you just ain`t good enough!!!

I'm not sure what you are asking, but I do know that belief means nothing without pursuing knowledge. Belief alone is for the simple minded.

Micheal Foucault says that the power lies in discourse and discourse is the product of Language. Belief in religion or God are also generated by means of language. Language dominates all belief, particularly when you become multi-lingual. So if you believe in the deceptive nature of language, you believe in the power of belief.
