Her support continues to grow despite the fond wishes of the conservatives. Do you think it's due to the two debates? If not, what do you think is causing the noticeable shift?

oc boomer:

If anyone needs further proof that relying on FAUX News for your information puts you at a disadvantage look at the information you have. She's never been third behind Obama and Edwards, NEVER, not even in your wildest fantasies. And today? According to the Wall Street Journal poll just released she has moved 5 pts. AHEAD of Rudy, when two weeks ago she was 5 pts. back. Ouch, huh?

Thank you so much for responding to my question. You've convinced me that there are still reasonable people who can disagree with others and not stoop to name calling and schoolyard tactics. We see a lot of that in here. Nice analysis by the way.

I think that George W himself is causing the shift. People are tired of a war that's going to drag on forever. Realistically, Iraq has turned into not our Viet Nam, but our Korea. We'll probably be there for another ten years at least regardless of who is president, but we will vote in hope of finding a quicker solution.

People are also tired of lies and corruption. There is the illegal and politcal firings of attorney generals, and then when Congress does its job and investigates, the Whitehouse stonewalls and accuses the Congress of "political theater." If my kids lied like that, I'd ground them for life. Then there's the leaking of Valarie Plame's identity in reataliation for her husband's criticism of the war. When and if the picture get completely revealed, it's going to be seriously disgusting.

Now along comes Hillary Clinton. She comes across as a straight talker. People like that. She can also answer a question without dancing around it like a trained chimp. She is very intelligent and capable of getting things done. Hillary Clinton is not lazy or afraid of hard work. She also has actual job experience and a successful record to point to. The Clinton White House brought us eight years of unprecedented peace and prosperity. I'd say those are some convincingly good qualifications for a pretty tough job.

I am one of the conservatives, yet yes I think she is showing herself to be up to the job. While I did not like her answers in either debate, I do think she showed herself to be professional, knowledgeable and up to the job. The polls indicate that Edwards has lost alot of support...which seems to have shifted over to Hillary probably due to those reasons.

I am of course, not a fan of Hillary, but if I had to have one of the Democrats as my President that are currently running I would choose her. None of the others are qualified for that job, and although Hillary would be quite a nightmare, she would be a refreshing change from the incompetence of the Bush administration (which I am afraid would not be the case with any of the other Dems). I also think, contrary to many of my fellow Republicans, that she is the more moderate and sensible of the candidates running in that party.

All this does not mean that I support her though...
I am going to work as hard as possible to make sure she is not the next President of the United States. LOL.

I must also state that I agree with you that it is obvious that she is the front runner...If FOX is running polls saying otherwise they are simply wrong, and obviously so (she might not be in every single states primary, but she will get the nomination unless she screws up in a very major way).

Choosing a Candidate- is a "process". This time- we have a LOT of them to "check out" & choose from. Hilary C. has been in the public eye for over 15 years now, so people feel a degree of comfort & confidence with her- that they might not with the others. Certainly the Debates help; as does her experience with having gone through 2 previous National Elections. It ALSO really helps- that she's a WOMAN, at a time when women are SICK of the War- and they see MEN as to "blame" for getting us in it. And finally; in these times of cranky, unhappy people, - alot us remember "the good old days" when the only person under "attack" was her husband, & the REST of the country- was doing fine. If SHE was able to handle Bill then, then maybe we could all handle having them back in the Whitehouse. :) She's looking BETTER- all the time.

There are many who may not like her yet feel she is very intelligent, strong and very capable at organizing. Although integrity does rank very important as a quality for leadership, emotional stability in times of crisis, willingness to stand up to injustice, and the wisdom and ision to analyze the common good for all, and having the competent skills to weigh and bring new ways and changes to offset errors made, are equally important. A leader is like a protective father/mother that can bring hope and unity to all - not just selective groups - under his/her roof. After hearing and studying all the candidates, Hillary seems to come across as topping the scale with these essential qualities than the rest of the candidates. It's very important for a leader to understand the citizens he/she manages. Flip-flopping between extremists defines the worst characteristic trait in any person - a trait that Hillary has avoided to exhibit so far. And she also comes across as a candidate who will not resort to intimidation and fear tactics to get things done. Leadership using fear and intimidation tactics is never effective after a while.

Voting a candidate does not mean what he/she can do to satisfy "ME and ME and MY BUDDIES", but what he/she can do for the common good of ALL of the nation's People.

I look forward to Bill Clinton's return to the White House even if Hillary has the key to the front door!

I saw her on the two debates, and I am not a Hillary fan, but I think she really held her own....She has been so severely demonized in the press, I am surprised she is still on top....

Ever notice, that not even her husband was so demonized? I think some men want to be on top, and its all sexist against her, AND I AM NO HILLARY FAN!

She is doing great keeping her campaign in idle, wait till she hits the gas she will cruse right into the White House with ease.

The competition is starting to show their true colors, Hillary is looking better and better every day.

There is no surge of support, just this last evening she is still third behind Obama and Edwards. Who are you trying to fool?
