I am a naturally kind of sweaty guy, I think it is genetic, and I am starting a new job in the fall where I have to wear a shirt and tie every day plus either a sweater, sweater vest, sports coat or suit jacket over it. I am really worried because the Job is in the south and dup until now I've worked in short sleeve shirts, sometimes even in winter to avoid sweating--Are there any brands or materials or tips that might help?

1) Consult your doctor or a dermatologist about prescription antiperspirants &/or botox. Botox can be used to reduce sweating. http://www.botoxseveresweating.com/index.aspx

2) For summer - consider a linen or cotton jacket w/ cotton trousers.

For shirts - stick w/ 100% cotton shirts. Wear a very light weight cotton tee (tank for summer, short sleeve for winter) underneath to help absorb the sweat. (You may want to keep one week's worth @ the office so you can change your undershirt mid-day.)

For briefs, lightweight 100% pima cotton boxers are great. Nordstroms makes really nice ones that are smooth, silky & long lasting. They are pricey so wait for their annual sale to stock up.

For socks, stick w/ 100% cotton or Thorlo dress socks. Thorlo dress socks look good and help wick away moisture.

Stick w/ leather shoes & alternate them. Put in shoe trees after each wearing to absorb the sweat & help them retain their shape.

For winter, choose a light weight year round wool suit. Also, have a sport coat you can wear w/ twill pants. The sport coat can be a wool/silk blend or maybe even corderoy.

Vests are a good option - either a sweater vest or a tweed vest can look sharp. As for sweaters - try to get thin 100% pima cotton or silk/cotton blends.

Try to wear cotton slacks as much as possible w/ a light sports coat. Cotton doesn't require dry cleaning.

The best place to shop for business clothing is www.landsend.com. The clothes are classic & you can get some great deals when things go on sale & in their overstock section.

Nordstrom's is worth checking out during sales - get on the mailing list.

Brooks Brothers outlets are good too.

I have the same problem, only for me I think it's worse cuz I'm a girl!!!! I sweat so bad... I don't know about any good materials, other than wear dark colors, since it's less noticeable and make sure you wear a good scented deodorant to make sure it at least doesn't stink. I don't know what deodorants are out there for guys, but I had to go to "Clinical Strength Secret". It's a womans deodorant but I'm sure they have something for men. You're supposed to put it on at night, and it's supposed to be good for the entire next day, even if you take a shower. It cost $8, so it wasn't bad. it helped me some. Maybe if you could find something like that, it help you out. Hope I've been a help! Good luck!
