it started yesterday, he woke up around 11am and cried for 5min and then he threw up semi thick yellow vomit, he hadnt eaten since he went to sleep the night before, but the wierd part is that he seems fine, had he not thrown up i wouldnt have known something was wrong, he happy and being himself completely, after he vomited he was okay, but i still called his ped immediately, she told me to get pedia. and for him not to eat for up to 24hrs, so we got the pedia. he loved it but threw it up, so we tried gatorade which stayed down since, except for 15min ago, but he did drink alot so his stomach was hard, and about 15min after that he let out a huge b.m. which was loose but pasty and it was dark reddish brown, so is that considered blood n his stool? someone plz help, should i call the doc again, cuz he seems fine, he's laughin, playin, no fever, or stomach discomfort... i duno what exactly to look for w blood n stool, would all of the stool be red or will the stool have its own color

This is going to sound strange, but check his back teeth. Does he have any molars trying to cut through? Doctors deny it but I have found it consistantly true, that when babies are cutting molars the have the symptoms you mentioned, but seem otherwise fine.
Blood in the stool should be fairly obvious if it is actually there. Too see a picture of what bloody stool should look like, and yes, EEEWWWWW, go to google, click images, and type in bloody stool. I won't post the link here because it would probably violate yahoo policies. The stool should be it's own color and the blood should be seperate.
The reddish brown color chould just be a bi-product of what he ate.
Good luck!

The #1 thing to watch for in symptoms like these is lethargy. Sounds like your son's immune system is pretty strong, and he is successfully passing any virus/illness that is in his system.
When there is blood in the stool, it will usually be liquid, and quite obvious. You did right to keep in touch with your ped, but remember that mother's instinct can pick up things that a busy doc often cannot detect right away. If you are concerned, don't feel embarrassed to seek care.

If the dont stay down you can always try about 2 table spoon of 7 up soda but drink it slow' and eat 1 cracker slowly' that's what i do when my little son is sick and throwing up.I do it also for myself when i;m sick..If he;s still not eating by tomorrow i would get him to his doctor as you don;t want him to get dehydrated..I don;t believe that was blood in his poo but just weird from not eating.. looks like your doing every like a mom should do so try to get some rest and sleep by your son in case he throws up in the night so he don;t choke ...good luck and bless you all.,

Keep him well hydrated, and take him to the doctor in the morning. They usually have an after-hours office during the weekends.

your boy oughta be seen again,,,doc should draw blood to check under microscope for type of bacteria, virus,or organism that makes him sick,,,stool ,may have color because of dyes in pedialyte,or other otc stuff for nausea,,,,kids can get sick, really sick, awful fast,,,,,they can bounce back fast too.save stool sample for doc to look at,in a sterile ,or cleaned in hot water, jar of some kind....

If you're worried call the doc. Better safe than sorry, and that's what they're there for.
