We are trying to plan a family vacation and the Shaft of Life seems very interesting. It is in Southern Oregon and We need to know if people are aloud to visit there or if you need a tour guide and how deep it is. Do you know anything?

Any kind of cave you visit you should get a tour guide. caves can get very deep. also you nee to see if it is currently hazardous. especially if it is volcanic. I would hate to see somebody get lost in a volcanic cave and something happens.

this is the only site I could find for you I hope you get everything you need. if this site does not answer EVERY question and the precautions that I gave you I would fine a local tour guide in that area. play it safe. if you cannot visit this cave for whatever reason, there are plenty of scenic places in Oregon/Washington area. Even in CA. I hope you find what you are looking for.
