Oddly enough, they seem to trust the huge intrusive and repressive government that their beloved Bush has given them...
Paradoxical, isn't it?
Could it be Bush is neither Republican nor conservative?

Well perhaps you could elaborate on exactly what your talking about.
Do I trust my govermental representatives do do the right thing on their own, Nope. Do I trust the overall governmental system we have.. yes... does it need to be evaluated from time to time .. yes. Do I think they have my best interests in mind?... vaguely.
My mistrust for government and my mistrust for misguided citizens isnt much different in level though. Hope is predicated on the effort of enough people with common sense to do the right thing of course.

To a very large extent, you have to trust the government otherwise you could not function in society. Conservatives do spout a lot of rhetoric about corrupt government, but it's more of a way to express their displeasure with its particular direction. Libs do it to. However, both sides have to put a lot of trust in this government for it to work.

I am not "conservative" however, I feel inclined to answer.
I do trust my Senators! They speak well, for me. And, I ensure it by calling, writing, emailing, them. In my own way, I am doing my part. Are the rest of you? They actually do respond to their constituents - we are the ones who vote them in, or OUT of office! rePublicans, I am sorry to say, respond primarily to their Big Business constituents!
I believe most people have forgotten one thing, WE are the government! The people of the United States! If we take responsibility and speak up, speak out, vote 'em out if you don't trust our 'servants.' [They are there to serve us... anyone remember this part of their duties?]
If impeachment were the real solution, and if, it could work for our good, I would be all for it. Right now, we are in such a precarious situation because of the imbalance of power!
Vote 'em OUT!

Very much. We were told this war would try and prevent future terror attacks and it has. If there were no trust in our government, the U.S., and the world, for that matter, would be in utter chaos. I hate people who think government is bad. It's not.

I can't imagine why anyone would trust this government, but quite a few of them seem to! Go figure! *sm*

Our very Constitution was created in the spirit that people should distrust government. To do anything else is foolish and certainly un-American.
