I don't think so. Jim Carrey has habits as an actor that show up in every role he plays. No matter how well he's doing, at some point the same old schtick shows up. Johnny Depp creates a character completely from scratch each time--each one is entirely different from any other role he's done. The stuff that Depp gets blamed for in Willy Wonka is actually the responsibility of the director, Tim Burton.

I think Christopher Walken would have made the best Willy Wonka. Wonka is a man thinking about retiring. Both Carrey and Depp were too young for the role.

uhhhh NO!!!! Yes, Jim Carrey is pretty hilarious but i don't think anyone could play Willy Wonka as good as Johnny Depp even though in the movie he looks like Michael Jackson lol. I can't really picutre anyone else playing that role except Johnny himself!!!!!

Johnny Depp creeped me out in this movie.. I loved theo riginal SO much better.. but not sure I would not have felt the same about JIm Carrey.. I really dont think he would have been any better..

No, I loved Jim in Lemony Sniggits!! Gene Wilder was better because of the old version. Johnny Depp was for the newer generation that had never seen the first. they were goodI think.
