Not, while Morris was a durable pitcher he never won a Cy Young Award or is among the lifetime leaders in a major category. I think Morris will be like Luis Tiant and Mickey Lolich pitchers who had great careers but not Hall Of Fame Careers. The only way Morris would get in is through the Veterans commitee, the writters can't get it right with Goose Gossage (310 lifetime saves), Bert Blyleven (287-250 3.31 ERA and 3,701 lifetime K's along with 2 world series rings Pirates in 79 and the 86 Twins).

" jack morris is going out for the 10th inning" yes he was awesome u listed some great stats yourself, he should be a shoe in. Started 14 consecutive openig days, most pitchers dont even pitch half the long let alone be the ace of the staff. 4ws wins 3 in a row jackmorris is a HOFer

Morris never, and I do mean that, had a great season. Had some very good ones, some with sparkly numbers, but never a great season, let alone a plurality of such. And he had a few real stinkers as well.

I look for great seasons before I look at shiny career numbers, and Morris is wanting on both accounts.

Hall? No.

And yes, I'm quite well aware of his "most wins in the 1980s" distinction. Don't care. And note, when proponents have to reach THAT FAR to support his candidacy, when they are in need of that sort of esoterica to promote him for the Hall, they've already lost the debate.

Dan Patrick was talking about this today, and he seems to think he should be a shoe in for the Hall of Fame. It's a shame that some people get in while others struggle to squeeze in to the Hall, but that's just how it goes sometimes.

Yup. Once you are into the 250+ win club then you are pretty much automatically in the Hall. He's bound to be voted in again soon.
