Drain the tank and rinse it out very well. Remove the filter media and rinse the filter well. Replace with new filter media. Rinse the gravel, decorations, heater, and anything else that was in the tank. Add new water and begin your cycle again. It sucks, but it's the only 100% surefire way to make sure all the soap is gone.

Also, teach the baby sister that fishies don't like soap. =)

Good luck, I hope the fish make it!

I definitely recommend that you change *all* of it, because soap can be extrememly toxic to fish in even very small amounts. Not only change it, but wipe the interior walls of the container with a clean towel before putting in new water for good measure.

You will need to change 100% of the water. Best to not take any chances. However since the tiny bacteria needed for your tank's nitrogen cycle lives on the decorations, filter medium and gravel, you nitrogen cycle should be fine.

I am with everyone else. The tank needs a 100% cleaning. The filter needs to be changed. The heater needs to be changed and the decorations. How old is your babysitter? Does she need a baby sitter?

everyone is right...change all of it, the water change is massive so look for a hike in your water chemistry in about a week or so....(ammonia and nitrate)
