I live in Wisconsin and I have a 1995 Honda Accord LX model. I flushed my radiator a year back. The radiator started leaking (minor leak along the rim) 3 weeks back. I stopped the leak using both 'JB weld' and 'Stop Leak'.

Everything was fine until last week. In the last 3 days (temperature outside was around 89 degrees) when I turned off my car, I noticed that the radiator fan was still on. My car temperature reading was ok. It stopped after 2 or 3 minutes. Is this bad?

Did I break the sensor or anything by using JB weld or stop leak? Is there an easy and cheap way to fix it? Pls let me know.

The cooling fan running for 2-3 minutes after you shut off the engine is normal and good. Remember that as you park, the cooling air flow through the grille into the engine compartment has stopped, which would result in big-time heat trapped under the hood if the cooling fan was not running. The car could actually overheat as you were walking away; also the paint on the hood could blister. After a few minutes, things are cooling down normally because the engine is no longer running, so the fan is shut off either by a thermostat or by the computer.

The only problem would be if the fan continued to run for more than 10-15 minutes, because that would be draining the battery leading to hard starting next time.

Its Normal. It will do that since its summer time and the coolant is alittle hotter and it does a cool down cycle. It sounds like you got a temp switch which will make the fan run until the coolant temp drops to a cooler temp. Or its controlled by the car's computer like some of the other people said.

Since you said you repaired your raidator wait overnight and check your coolant levels make sure its ok. If not replace it with a salvage part.

I tried that Stop leak junk and it didn't last for 1 month and I have high doubts that jb weld will hold. Just get a good Raidator from a junkyard thats in good condition and put it in. its usually a straight forward job.

this is normal this is programmed into your cars computer to cool your enigne down
after driving for a while when you turn off your engine it goes into a heatsink and actually gets a little hotter thats why your fan turns on to help it cool if it dosent turn off ever then you got a problem

not so sure, but if you are worried, then take the car to a mechanic, and he or she will check to see what the problem is.
