I don't know what to do! I don't think it's ok for him to eat so much, especially being formula. If I don't feed him he will cry and cry and cry. Do I let him cry? What should I do???

My baby boy is 3 weeks. I feed him 3 to 4 ounces every 3 hours. I swaddle him, burp him, change his diaper, I've tried massaging him, I'll walk around and play music - that'll work for 2-4 minutes then he starts to cry again and will suck on his fingers so I'm guessing his hungry. I don't want to over feed him, does this get better???

It depends on the dosis of formula that you're giving him, he should be having about 4 oz. every 2-3 hours, when my daughter was born my mom told me something really wise, she told me that babies don't know what is bothering them so when they're cold, hot, or even gassy they tend to cry and they think they're hungry so they eat because they feel that that's what they need, but if is a gas problem it could get worse if you keep feeding them every time they cry, try on feeding him until he's full and schedule his next feeding 2-3 hours after then if he cries after an hour check him to see if something is bothering him you can try and take all of his clothes off and give him a nice massage maybe that'll work.

I have the same problem w/my 1 month old. I am feeding her 3 oz every 3 hrs but she throws a fit in between feedings. If I feed her more she'll get very gassy and spit up a lot. I took her to the doctor yesterday and she told me to feed her 3 oz every 2 hrs. I hope it works today will be the 1st day trying this....

breast fed babies eat every two/two half hrs but bottle fed are every three or so, how much u giving at once? i did about 200mls a feed but too often, is he spilling up a lot?, then its possible u giving too much, i was nervous too n would always feed when my son cried but turned out was feeding too often, try giving him a cuddle n walking round for a while, a nice rub on his back too, could have sore tummy from wind or too much milk but cant help himself to drink more. talk to ur nurse and read ur can of formula, it should have recommended amounts on it, in meantime try cuddles and distracting a bit and spread his bottles out a little at a time. good luck, it does get easier x

Babies cry for lots of reasons. Try soothing him in other ways if he's been fed. Burp him. Diaper him. Hold him. He may not be hungry every time he cries. There was a woman on Oprah who discovered that babies have 4 distinct cries. Look at this link and see if this helps. I wish I had known about this when my babies were born! Good luck :)

How old is he first of all? If he eats so much it's fine he's hungry.. Try putting baby cereal in his bottle.. it's in the store right by the formula.. Try a scoop or 2 of that in his bottle.. I don't have ne kids personally i am 7 months preggo but i baby sit a 3 month old boy who eats a 6 oz bottle with cereal every 2 hours still.. I used to have my godson when he was born till around 4 months cuz his mom wasn't able.. i started him on it around 2 1/2 months and it worked...

Heck, we fed my son when he was hungry, he was a breast man. Never had formula or a bottle. He got a little "Baby Fat" but, once we could keep him off the tit, he ate real food with us.
But, for trivia; Once we were at a restaurant (Good People), the waitress was holding him and he pulled her shirt top out to look at her breast. Hmmmm?? A chip off the old block I guess. ;-) I started doing my "Rooster Strut Dance", everyone was ROFL!
Yes, I proud of my son, just need to teach him to be more diplomatic in the breast area. Ha!

That's normal. My son was breastfed and he ate every 45 minutes for a while.

How many ounces is he eating at each feeding?? Babies go through a growth spurt at six weeks and eat like crazy!

If you are really concerned, give your pediatrician a call, they can reassure you :)
