people don't try to be emo or preppy or goth anymore?

For the most part yes, especially when your or your parents money is now on the line. You realize this when you blow hundreds of dollars on a single class. You really don't have time for all that. People are gonna dress the way they want, but remember clothes cost money, now school will too.

Well of course there will be preppies, emos, and goths. But there is definitely less of a sense of being labeled and being a part of a clique. You'll never escape the cliques anywhere in life, but it just won't matter as much in college.

I think that you will find in life people care less about labels and cliques. It will progress in college, and graduate even farther in life, where "emo/preppy/goth" aren't as distinguishable as they are in the earlier years of life.

In college, people hang out together for different reasons than they do in high school. People tend to hang out with those from their own field of study since they have a lot in common. If you go to college close to where you grew up, some of that clique stuff can follow, but it mostly doesn't. My group of friends includes and ex-Marine Sargent, a farm girl, a punk rocker, and a Catholic school girl. We all get along great because we have so much in common.

Honestly, there are still labels in college, but they are different than in high school. For the most part people are whoever they want to be and depending on where you go to school, not really in "cliques". I personally would suggest knowing and spending time with many different types of people, especially different than yourself, just to experience and learn new things.

I dont think that you can call them cliques per say but in college us usually associate more with people that are studying they same thing you are. Im in a sorority and there are girls that hang put together more but not cliques. Hoipe it answers your question

The cliques wont be as obvious. When people don't know anyone they will make quick friends, even with people they wouldnt have associated with in high school.

it depends on where you go. perhaps a very small college with less than 5,000 students would be similar to hs. but mostly, no. it isn't like that. i've been to many schools and have never seen emo kids in college. i guess they grow up after hs

yes; it is becuase of all the drama we've experience in high school. We don't want to go through that horrible ordeal again. Also, people become more mature and care about what they want to do with their lives besides walking around school and making/talking crap.

hardly anyone at my university seems to care about labels and cliques. It seems to be more of a highschool thing.
