I agree with you 101%.....i disagree with some of the answers above though.
I hate it when people say theres no proof ......if Barry Bonds would come out and say he's never taken steroids then that would be a start. But the coward sits and pouts and refuses to talk. As this guy said in his question....if you open your eyes and look at the facts, it's not hard to tell that the man used something to enhance his performance. How much did it enhance it? What could he have done had he not cheated? These questions we will never get answered, but if you use common sense you have an idea.
To people who say they won't dislike a person they have never met......I dislike the man because he is tarnishing something I love. The game of baseball....the fact that he is taking a record from Aaron makes me dislike him too. I'm not taking out my anger on him, I just don't like what he has done...some people care about baseball and ya at the end of the day it is just baseball...but for some people like me after friends, family, life, and god, baseball is number one. If I have the time, I sit down for 3 hours and watch my Cubs every opportunity I get....it's what I do....it's what a lot of people do. A lot of fans of the game hate the black eye that he gives the sport.
Jason Giambi? Who cares about Jason Giambi....he ain't on the verge of stealing baseball's most prestigious record. He took steroids and admits it....good for him. At least he has the gutsto come out and say he screwed up. Too bad Barry couldn't grow some guts. What I'd give for Barry to admit his mistake....no proof, whatever. Those of you that want it in writing that Barry Bonds used steroids, you ain't going to get it anytime soon, he's too worried about his little record.
Unfortunatly the piece of scum will break his record and retire and we'll never hear from him again....only about him. This Cub fan hopes that Albert Pujols (Thats right this Cub fan said Albert Pujols), Alex Rodriguez....anybody breaks and shatters his record leaving us with no doubt who the true home run king should be.
Edit: This is all my opinion and it's not like I'm on my own on this one. A majority of real baseball fans will agree with me for the most part. And for God's sakes if I get called a racist one more time because of my feelings about this scum bag piece of junk, I swear I might go crazy. I am the most unrasist person you will run into. I don't understand why people drag race into stuff like this. This is not a question of race. Your tellin me not to judge people I havn't met....then don't call me a racist....thats ridiculous. Oh and uhh man, you say I don't want a black guy being the best....ummm i'm defending Hank Aaron's record......i just checked and he is still black.
I am not being hypocritical either.....this question was about Barry Bonds. Not Jose Canseco, not Jason Giambi, not Mark McGwire, not Sammy Sosa, not Rafael Palmeiro, not the outbreak of steroids in the late 90's. This question simply asked me why I hate Barry Bonds...and that is how I answered the question. I despise anyone who tarnishes any part of baseball. Sammy Sosa was my childhood hero....I had t-shirts, bobbleheads, baseball cards, everything...in 1998 I was 9 years old. He was my superman. Looking back I feel so stupid. There is just as much reason to blame Sammy as there is Barry and I have lost a lot of respect for him. McGwire disappeared. Baseball writers as of now agree with me and most of the baseball world in keeping him out of the hall of fame. I have reasons to hate all of them and I do. But I addressed my comments about Bonds and only Bonds. I felt no need to go into anyone else.
Let me ask you a question to all of you Bonds fans:
It doesn't matter though we know he is a lier.....look what he did to Mike Sweeney earlier this season, but why has Barry not come out and simply gone on record saying that he has not used steroids? He has never done that and I would like to know why?
I don't believe it takes a rocket scientist to know the answer to this one.
For those of you who look at thumbtacks, ball doctoring, spitballs, corked bats....that is one pitch, one at bat, one game...Barry Bonds has made a career out of hitting the ball out of the ballpark because of his power. Not his bat not his ball, not his helmet...but his power that comes from his body...his potentialy fake body. He is about to break baseball's most prestigious record...not about to hit one home run with a corked bat.
GOOD FOR THEM....FOR USING STEROIDS....GOOD FOR THEM!!!!!! That's excellent.....good for them, if they can do what they need to do without breaking the rules that's great...good for them!!!
That's what I'll tell my kid someday. He gets an A on his test....says he cheated but didn't get caught....good for him!!
This is exactly how I feel but I'm sorry if I offended anybody. No I havn't changed my approach and if I was asked to argue this again this is exactly what I would say. I think whenever, I said if i said if I got called a racist one more time I would go crazy, well it didn't take one more time....that was all I needed. This is not a question of race. Don't use that as an argument....that is ridiculous.
I'll leave you with a quote
"Baseball is a game of race, creed, and color. The race is to first base. The creed is the rules of the game. The color? Well, the home team wears white uniforms, and the visiting team wears gray. "

I am not a Barry Bonds fan but he has never failed a drug test, he has continued to put the ball in play and make contact whether he cheated or not. If that is the case then we cannot be hypocrits, Gaylord Perry cheated his way to 300 wins throwing a spitter, Whitey Ford admitted to cutting the ball as he got older to get more movement on it, Don Drysdale threw a spitter, Norm Cash, Amos Otis, Graig Nettles and others have admitted to using a corked bat, Don Sutton was caught on WPIX in 1988 doctoring the ball during a Yankees-Angels game (I was watching the game and they zoomed in on him on the mound and nailed him unfortunately Tommy John was hurling for the Yanks and was doing the same thing) Joe Niekro was caught with an emory board, Rick Honeycutt with a thumbtack to cut the ball, among other things that have gone on in the history of baseball.
If we are going to punish Bonds we should punish the other offenders ( kick Perry out of the Hall of Fame) I think people are making way to much out of it. He was a great player before the alleged steriod years 1986 - 1998 or 99. (I only say alleged because he has not been proven guilty even though everyone has their suspicions) a true 5 tool player who won 3 MVP Awards during that time. So I think we should stop being hypocrits and let Barry enjoy his day one day someone (possibly AROD or Puljos or some one else) will break his record.

There's so many more people out there worthy of hating. I don't waste my time hating people for ignorant reasons like that, especially when I've never met them. I have no respect for people like you who build up so much hate on assumptions and all over a game no less. At the end of the day, it's just baseball. Use your hate on murderers, crooked politicians, or something important. Some actual villains perhaps. Barry never did a thing to you, get over yourselves.
Wow, that's hardcore ignorance Swampboy. Nice spelling of inconclusive and I love that one gem of yours: "He ain't been proved..." Pure genius.
Yeah, lots of people love baseball Clay, myself included. Not all of us hate Barry Bonds so much though. He and other players took advantage of baseball's lack of rules on the issue. They beat the system, good for them. Baseball sure didn't mind when they became popular again during the '98 season. Steroids have been around for a hell of a long time and baseball only recently began testing for it? That's their own fault. Going with the logic of most of these responses, you guys should loathe baseball itself for allowing it to happen. Hating one player and giving the league a free pass seems a bit hypocritical. I guess it's because he's close to the holy grail of records that pisses you off? Something doesn't add up with your whining, either the bulk of you are hypocrites or just confused when deciding what to hate.
Wondering if a player ever used steroids when they go on a hot streak is what tarnishes the game, not just Barry Bonds. Every time a player does something amazing, it will be in the back of people's minds that he may be juiced. That's not Barry's fault, he may be a small part of it. It's the fault of the entire league. Focusing all the hate on one player isn't going to solve the issue. I think you're insulting your own intelligence if you despise Bonds so much, but let everyone else off the hook.

I hate him too. He is a disgrace to the MLB, and the Hall Of Fame, I could understand if it was proved that he wasn't a roider: But Look at ~Jose, and Mark McGuire... He should be kicked out of the MLB.
And: Hey Colts, the reason that it ain't been proved yet is because the results are "Incunclusive" By the INDEPENDENT companies: He aint been proved to have taken Steroids or not yet.

I can't stand the fact that he still thinks he's some kind of hero or future legend. He certainly doesn't deserve any recognition if he breaks the H.R. record. I feel he should be banned from the game. Look what happened to Pete Rose just for gambling and betting on his own team. It seams like the one's who have or had a drug problem still manage to stay in the game. PLEASE, someone make this right.
