Everybody says I'm a white girl? Do you think I'm a sellout?

Question

I live in a neighborhood with a lot of blacks.(We are moving soon. Ghetto people came and started messing everything up.) Anyway I am naturally bright in skin color. Not like almost white but kind of like the skin color of video girls. I also do not have the black nappy hair it is soft long and curly. I don't have big lips or a big butt. Everybody says I'm a sellout and I turned on black people because I like Harry potter, like other genres other then rap and I don't look stupid dancing to songs like "jigga juice". I don't curse often and I'm not always fighting or talking about other girls. Nor am I getting into peoples faces. I like white guys and Native American guys. Everybody says I act white because of it. Except for some black people and my white friends.

OMG Vjaxxon what did I do? My great grandfather was white and I have Native American in me. It isn't my fault I was born bright. No I haven't experienced racism but how is that my fault?

We aren't moving like out of the city moving we are moving like out of the neighborhood but either way it still gives me a chance to start over.

sounds like the answers to this kind of question is probably no and never. that's why other black people are hatin' on you. your light skin gives you free pass into places where they are hated or reviled for no other reason than the color of their skin. you are the "exotic" and acceptable cuz black is not a word you know...

your lovely little world with soooo many choices was built on the backs of black men, women and children, who were enslaved, murdered, lynched, humiliated and disrespected.

Who cares how you look. You didn't create yourself anyway. I personally don't see anything wrong with having nappy hair, dark skin, big lips, or a big butt, if that's the way that God made Black people to look. You seem to feel that you are being envied because you don't have the physical traits that most Black people have. I don't think that anybody really cares how you look. It may be your negative attitude. Don't you think that God knew what He was doing when He created Black people with nappy hair, thick lips, and dark skin. Who are you to say that He made a mistake.
As far as Harry Potter goes: that's about witchcraft, and I personally will not watch any of the movies or read any of the books.
And all races curse, talk about other people, get into people's faces, and a lot of races other than Blacks know how to dance and other races like rap. So, what planet do you live on?

The only people who talk about 'selling out' are people who are miserable or people who are scared. Otherwise, such thoughts would never enter their minds. Too bad for them. James Baldwin, a famous writer, said it best about racism. There is no point in hating because your hate will cause you misery since you carry it with you everywhere. Other people only have to deal with it when they are around you. I'm SO glad that interracial marriages have increased 10 times what they were from 20 years ago. One day, there will be so many shades of color, nobody will be using the terms black or white for people's identities.

where are you from? What Black person describes themselves as "bright in color?" LOL, you mean light skinned?

the fact that you have even had to make that distinguishing feature prominent says a lot about how you feel about your own race.

What makes you a sell out is when you turn your back on your race to be accepted by mainstream society, you isolate yourself from the Black community etc...

What your story tells me is that you really don't feel comfortable being Black/African-American.

Just because you like different genres of music or books or games etc...doesn't make you any less Black, but these pple who view you as a sell out, haven't been exposed to other things. But if you HAVE turned on your own that is what a sell out is.

so what of it?
you are entitled to your choice of movies, music and anything else and should not be limited to others self imposed racial restrictions.
You say you are moving, this will give you a chance to start over and just be yourself.
Be proud of what and who you are and if someone doesn't like it you know where to tell them to give you a big kiss (that would be on you not to big of a butt).

The only way you'll ever be a sell out is if you ever let someone else tell you who you are before you do. Some people will not like you no matter what race, color or complexion you are. Develop your inner strength and show these people how narrow their world views are.

Become a stronger person and love yourself and you'll find that you don't care at all what ANYONE says about you.

I dont really know how anyone can "act white" because white people in other countries dont act like that. Black and white folks in england all act the same. And if some blacks, browns or whatever,act that way, then how is it "white". I just say you act like an educated american. Color is a cultural thing, it shouldnt be a behavioral thing. We all have our roots from some other country, thats how america is. Whether you are white or black, you should just be yourself, whatever that means. Keep your head, ma, you will be ok.
