received quad with valve cover off and claims that the guy couldn't get it timed. Personally the people working on this machine didn't have a clue. I am looking for any specs, manuels or advice. Thank You

You are going to need the shop manual on this one. It is a 4 stroke engine, not a 2 stroke. Valve timing is critical as well as valve clearance. If the clearance is off just a little, it won't start because the compression release is built into the exhaust cam and is very touchy.

The basic procedure is to remove the engine caps so you can see the rotor bolt and TDC mark. Put a wrench on the bolt and rotate the motor until the intake valves open and close. Then go to TDC. Your timing marks on the flywheel and both cams should align. This is also where you set the valve clearances.

If your timing is off, you may have a bent valve. I know all the clearances and torque specs, but I can't tell you which marks are used on the cams. Sometimes cams have multiple marks for different engines. You really need to check the manual on that one. I have no problem walking you through the rest, but just can't remember which marks were used and the pin count between them.

You won't get exact technical answers here.
Purchase a shop manual.
