It's okay for her as long as she still feels comfortable doing it.

As long as she is already a conditioned runner, they say it's OK through the first trimester, but she will have to cut back as the pregnancy progresses, and she may find she can't do what she's used to. Progesterone can make you tired, dizzy and out of breath. Tell her not to push herself, carry a cell phone in case she needs someone to come get her, and talk to her OB about it.

Yes, the key word being "still." Provided there are no risk factors to consider it is considered safe for a woman to maintain most excercise routines that they had prior to pregnancy, including running. Most Dr.'s will advise against starting any new routines.

If she was an runner before she got pregnant, he may say it's ok to keep it up as she tolerates it......she'll know when it's time to quit running because as the baby gets bigger it'll push on her lungs more and it'll be harder to catch her breath.....and over the pregnancy she'll probably taper it down to either a little jog or quit altogether. As long as she was doing it before and it's not making her hurt or sick, then it's ok.

yep, its okay. Mostly if a woman is very active before getting pregnant than it is not really a problem to continue. As the pregnancy progresses of course she will have to cut back.

If your wife was running before it should be fine. Anything that she is use to doing already should cause no problems at all. It's not the time to join a gym and start a whole new workout though.

Yes, it's a great idea to exercise during pregnancy, and will definitely help her maintain a good body (many pregnant women let themselves go).. anyways its harmless, Good Luck!

Absolutely! Unless she is told otherwise. Its actually very good that she is exercising...when she finally gives birth, things will go more smoothly. She will end up just walking--which she should attempt to do until the day comes.

Congratulations!

its fine, however later in pregnancy she may want to use an eliptical machine or speed walking instead, pressure on the bottom of her pelvic area gets really heavy.. (tell her she'll get just as much exersize on an eliptical machine or speed walking, just up her time!

If your doctor says its okay, TRUST HIM! Don't you think he knows at least a little about what he's doing?

I have friends who are runners, and they've kept right on running all the way through their 8th month.

hey I'm a mother of 2. running is fine. if your wife starts to hurt or she doesn't feel right then she should quit. but exercise is good for her body. it will help if she in shape. labor is very hard work.
