im not talking about global warming. im talking about politics

what i mean is the state governments are doing better than the federal government. no one supports the president(the federal governments representative to the people) if this continues thus the nation will split into factions.

case in point//// the roman empire was a super power in its day it got bored with no one to callenge it. eventually it split

we are the only super power left on earth

if this continues on its curnet path the nation will split into factions

It's not the general populous. It's the 10% elite who have enough money to pursuade the government machine to do it's bidding.

Supporting the president is a non-issue in the same way as the popular phrase "support our troops" is meaningless.

Exactly what does "support our troops" mean? To not throw rotten vegetables at returning soldiers and call them baby killers?

If when you say "support the president' you mean go along with whatever the president decides to do then you've missed the concept of democracy.

The people of this country deserve more than a president who as a matter of policy calls anyone not agreeing with him a supporter of terrorism.

Factions? This country is already split into factions in every degree.

On one end we have homeless children who need a place to live. To eat, take baths, have clothes, friends,go to school, play, and have a chance to have a normal happy life. Instead of living in dread and fear.

On the other end we have celebrities who appear in one movie and make millions of dollars for a few weeks or months work. More than most Americans will make in a lifetime.

We have a president and vice president robbing our treasury to fill their pockets and the pockets of their friends in business.

What kind of support exactly should we be giving the president? A slap on the back?

The answer my friend, is that politics isn't the problem. The problem you partially described isn't about state or federal government.

It's about a selfish lump of humanity known as Americans.

Your history is flawed. The Romans were not the only superpower of their time.

I am sure you have heard of the Carthaginians, perhaps even of Pontus. Both were superpowers before they fell to Rome. Not even Rome could defeat the Parthians, however, so that makes them even more successful than the others.

Further, the USA is not the only superpower today. There is the European Union, and there is Russia. Most importantly there is China, who have a huge standing army and an aggressive nuclear development program.

That having been said, I feel i should also point out that this country has already split into to irreconcilable factions, neither of which is prepared to look objectively at any issue the other has taken a position on.

Given the examples of history, for example Cato and Bibulous versus Julius Caesar, I would say we are already screwed. It is nice, however, that you woke up in time for the end of the movie.

Several things going on now are not in the best interest of the survival of a country (but in no way am I saying all of these are bad things, I'm just talking VERY long term)
1. Continuing to allow immigration at the current level - this point due to already present overcrowding problems as a result of natural birth and death rates)
2. Offering Medicare and Medicaid (this point because of the increasing lifespan which increases the population of senior citizens. I know many of you are offended by this point, but, again I'm just saying long term, eventually the elderly population will grow beyond Medicare/Medicaids ability to support them.)
3. Continuing to allow the production of non-fuel efficient vehicles (I'm all for having the right to buy whatever vehicle you want, but fossil fuels are a limited resource. We are advancing by leaps and bounds in alternative fuel sources, however.)
4. Reduction of the farmland. (Replaced by housing developments and mini-malls. Again, I'm all for growth in the community, but long term, it's the farmland that feeds the country.)

Many of these points can and are regulated politically and can be altered by the influence on lobbiests and voters.

every great society has been destroyed from within, America will be no exception, our politicians have let the Zionist gain control of our political spectrum and our monetary system, and our new's media, with a combination like that how can they fail, and their ambition is to control the world, some say this is crazy, they only number about %5 of the population, but, just think they only numbered about 5 % in Russia yet they controled it for over 60 years and the Russian people were litteral slaves to them and they want the world to be slaves to them, you had better do your home work and stuudy history written before the 60s,

I do think the United States is going through trauma. 9/11 and the Iraq War have undermined the intense unshakable nationalism that most Americans feel. Answers to why this is so cannot be provided very easily by the conventional party system.

The United States was conquered in a bloodless coup in 1980. Corporations took over and have been tightening their stranglehold on our country ever since.

The noise you hear today is those of us who wish to retake our country vs. the sheep who have been blinded by 27 years of corporate propaganda...Americans whose natural leanings are towards freedom (liberals) and those whose natural inclinations leans towards fascism (conservatives)

Bush has sped up the inevitable confrontation, attacking the Constitution as if all had forgotten our history, who we are. We will take our country back sooner rather than later. America will once again be a republic of, by and for the people....(not the corporations and the sheeple)

Yes, it is destroying itself.... the main reason: we have gone from a Christian country to one that tolerates all religions, even the ones that hate Chrisitianity, democracy, etc... As a Christian nation, we were basically united, despite all the different problems.... If you do research into the founding of this country and the earliest compacts, charters and declarations, you will see a nation that depended on God for everything... when this nation strayed away from that, they started to destroy themselves...
