Many men of genius have behaved quirkily in their private lives. Mister Zero's tragedy was that his brand of idealism was often 'rewarded' by normality. Yet, while his delving into the code may not have been as beneficial to society as his twine research, they have left us with some points to consider. You are real in the concept of existing. But, to be real to people you have to experience life and talk from life experiences and not what you conjure up in your mind.
