It should be cheaper to deliver from internet purchases than to build up a huge store and deliver to your home with no charge, shouldn't it?

The groceries you buy online are already at the store closest to you. The order is filled at the store, not at a grocery clearinghouse. An employee has to take time out of their day to fill your order and deliver it, that costs the company money. Thats why they pass the cost on to you.

When a store delivers groceries to you, you are receiving a benefit/service that regular in-store shoppers do not get. Furthermore, this benefit costs the store money, so it's only fair that it's passed on to you.

i assume they are charging you for the delivery. they ARE helping you stay home and not have to go to the supermarket yourself!
