Why do some when asked a question, instead of answering the question try to prove their assumption of their superior intellect by the way that they answer while managing to disregard and ignore the original question?

What is the need that is fulfilled by this behaviour?

Serious answers only please.

Thanks.

Well, if you can establish intellectual superiority, there follows a common misconception that the lesser party now no longer has a valid opinion, as you are smarter. So, people will try to sound much more intellectual so that they look like the smartest and be listened to more.

They have done away with their morality, one has got no business to divert from the originality of the question. Of course this democracy and one can't be bared to do so, unless there is a rule to do it. Suggest that such answers must not be brought on the net by the "web holder".

Arthur...bravo, good question.
I truly bleieve that some here, in Q & A, genuinely want to try to help, some are looking to fill up time, some to play, others to learn, and some to simply "show-off"....then there are the ones you're asking about.... the ones who don't care whats asked, they just want to broadcast their own opinions like it was gospel truth, and have others think they are superior. Sad, isn't it? (shrug) I'd guess it gives them a thrill to see their own words in print, a sort of knowing that they are being read, and that magnifies their own self-importance.

It's always a challenge in life when we don't get what we want.

Answering your question requires agreement with your premise. Humans are not an intelligent species in my estimation, so to assume that anyone is acting from a place of superiority is mistaken.

So then, it would be reasonable to assume that someone is challenging the premise of the question.

A similar example can be found in "did you beat your wife again today?" The questions assumes information to be true which is likely not true. To answer directly "no", still leaves the implication that someone is beating their wife. I wouldn't consider someone failing to give agreement to the question "did you beat your wife again today?" as acting superior.

Just because one does not agree with the importance you put in a particular aspect of human experience does not mean anything outside of the judgment you assign to it. Sounds like an subjective experience to me.

My favorite color is green and I'm so smart. It's probably because they all think I'm smart.
