I say chump. This man brought down a country. Him and Woodward & Bernstien and the Washington Post. I hope they're happy now!

I consider RIchard M. Nixon to be both a fine president that this country ever had, and one of the most tragic presidential figures of the 20th Century. He fell from the heights of power to the debths of depravity.

Mark Felt, if he blew the whistle, was right to disclose what happened, and yes between him and Woodward & Bernstein, they brought Tricky Dick down.

But did they take the country down? No. We did that all on our own. The Democrats in Congress redesigned the Congressional hearing in a way so as to maximize the political fallout from a 3rd rate burglary.

Nixon was good at his job. He was a scumbag. What can I say? Unlike Clinton, Nixon never went on the road to get paid for speaking engagements and the like. He was a modest guy.

Dude, Nixon was paranoid and delusional AND GUILTY. He resigned after Barry Goldwater told him that he wouldn't survive the impeachment process. The only way THAT could have been possible is if the GOP was also going to vote against him.

Do you blame the cops for ruining a burglar's life and livelihood when he arrests him???

Seriously, get a clue.

Felt was a po'd chump who did the right thing for the wrong reasons. He at least deserves credit for defining how to discover the truth in any situation, and a great quote to boot. "Follow the money"

er... so you wish it never happened?

I think it gave Americans an EXTREMELY healthy dose of reality... so that just because someone is president, it doesn't make them perfect...

believing your infallible is the last step in the "pride before the fall" process...

I think our country would be closer to being "brought down" had it not happened and we continued on our naive "the president is perfect" ideology...

I mean who is stupid enough to trust a politician, much less get mad at someone who points out, yet again, why we shouldn't?

So you don't care what's really going on as long as we can pretend everything is just fine. That attitude results in the eventuality of everyone suffering the consequences without ever knowing what hit them.

CHUMP

Nixon handled that whole thing very badly but it should never have gone as far as it did. He was a great president brought down over a triviality.

I don't think he (or anyone of those people) "brought down the country." Maybe an administration, almost ruined my mother's college career cause she spent all day watching the coverage, but the country survived the whole ordeal.

Chump. Nixon did nothing his opponents wouldn't do given the chance.

Unlike Kennedy and Eisenhower he got busted.
