ok, i've heard a lot of answers........

i personally thought jfk was the best, but many people on this site happen to disagree with me. sorry, but i still like him.
reagan.........nah
nixon............the name speaks for himself
FDR..........don't know too much abou him but i heard he was pretty good. he gets the rap with locking of japanese prisoners. but we were at a war right? and not some skirmish like iraq, but a real war. japan was NOT our friend during WWII. how was he as a person? did he "cheat" on his wife?
ABE.......he's the complete opposite of JFK. while i like jfk and people disagree with me, people seem to like abe and i disagree with them.

worst......
i heard buchanon was the worst. really? what was up with the civil war?
carter.......haven't decided on him yet, i don't if it was a good or bad thing for him to pardon the draft dodgers
bush........still waiting

so what are your opinions?

Best: George Washington

Worst: George W. Bush

Other greats: Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, James Monroe, Andrew Jackson, Abraham Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Franklin Roosevelt, Harry Truman and Dwight Eisenhower.

Other Failures: JQ Adams, John Tyler, Franklin Pierce, James Buchanon, Ulysses Grant, Rutherford Hayes, Benjamin Harrison, William Taft, Warren Harding, Lyndon Johnson, Jimmy Carter.

Most Over-rated: Jack Kennedy and Ronald Reagan

Most Tragic: Richard Nixon

I think the only presidents who did NOT cheat on their wives have been Carter and Ford.

(why is JFK the best?)

BEST: george washington. he was a flawed but honest man who tried to make right his personal wrongs later in his life (i.e. slavery), had the good of the whole nation in mind without being immersed in partisan politics and power grabbing (he could have been made a king if he had wanted...) a true valiant war hero fighting for freedom from oppressive government and a brilliant mind who sat as head of the Constitutional Convention which produced one of the most timeless political documents ever written...

he was in my mind the key in the establishing of what we now know as the U.S. of A...! w/o him would America even exist as we know it? hmmm...a thought to ponder... :-)

WORST: not too sure but maybe carter. the president that won't go away. pardoner of the draft dodgers indeed... did nothing but placate the communist powers of China and Russia of that time and left a mess for the next president to clean up... not respected by Communists as evidenced by the hostage crisis... an idealist which is fine but not for a president... thought he could make everyone nice by talking a lot about how nice being nice was...

the thing about trying to quantify one of the american presidents is that they almost HAVE TO BE PORTRAIT AS HEROIC regardless of there ability's, or accomplishments or failures or decisions or what ever... the whole world is affected by this country's presidency's...and 'we' got to make 'them' believe the best..even if it is crap.
Consequently, not even an American is a qualified judge of one of them. We are as brain-whacked as the rest of the world, if not more so. It's 'politics' on numerous psychological, sociological and infrastructural leaves simultaneously.
It takes 10 - 20 - 30 years before the setting president's term becomes fruitous... to judge one any sooner is premature.
This one has undoubtedly put our children's children in a debt bearing situation. Who knows what global impact these greed-mongers have initiated..!!.. that's the real question.

The "best/worst" President is George W. Bush.

He’s been the best at being the worst from day one.

its funny how you dont know too much about the longest serving president, yet think you know enough about US history to say that JFK was our greatest president.

it isnt simply my opinion that makes you wrong, its history and the opinion of every credible historian.

oh, here's my educated guess:

best-tie-jackson, washington and madison
worst-tie-carter and polk
