When my husband was 20, he had a felony and ended up as a very successfull manager at a chain tire store. The key is to be professional and persistent. When you apply for a job, ask to meet the manager. When you do, be dressed nice (appropriate for the job you are applying for) and polite, but let him know how interested you are in the job and why you think that he should hire you. If you are applying for a job where you need to dislose your felony, be honest. Explain that you have made mistakes, but have learned from them, and would like to prove that. (Just make sure it's the truth) Good luck!

unfortunately there is a line on almost EVERY SINGLE JOB APPLICATION and I'm SURE it's on EVERY SINGLE MILITARY APPLICATION as well---it states---"have you EVER been convicted of a crime" (or something similar to that)..... put YES (in your case the truth) and you are liable to be turned away from a LOT of prospective jobs... Put NO and lie and you WILL get caught ---maybe not until you are HIRED, but you WILL GET CAUGHT and they will FIRE YOU ON THE SPOT for lying on the application--even if you've been working for them for 20 + YEARS---I've seen it happen where I worked (State Government).. It's too bad that people aren't taught how difficult life will be AFTER they commit a felony---BEFORE they go out and get into trouble......maybe if you knew what a HELLISH time you would have getting employment because of that felony, MAYBE you would have thought twice before you committed that crime. Oh and the guy above is correct-----as a felon, you can't carry firearms--and you'd HAVE to in the military---so they probably wouldn't take you either........ I know one job where they will hire felons and they make EXCELLENT MONEY too----the Sanitation Department in the City of New York.......you MIGHT have some luck with the town or city you live in working for that town or city... most times you have to take a written test for those jobs but it sure wouldn't hurt you to find out....IF you are trying to straighten out your life, I wish you ALL the luck in the world...it's NOT an easy thing to do....

If the city where you were convicted is not where you live, do not disclose it.

Unless you are trying to get hired by the government, the only police checking done is in your city of residence.

felony may disqualify you from service to, they need people who can legally operate firearms.
