Genesis- The musical ability of this band is often underrated. Anyone who just pegged them as an 80's pop band with catchy tunes, or whatever, is just looking at half the picture. Phil Collins is a phenominal drummer (what, he plays drums????). Tony Banks is a magician on keyboards. Mike Rutherford?? Listen close to some early Genesis when his primary role was the Bassist--just some phenominal bass guitar work. Put on top of that Peter Gabriel (What? He was never in Genesis......???) Just a phenominal band.
To answer the rest:
Rush
Yes
Emerson Lake and Palmer
Husker Du
The Ramones
Frank Zappa
Pink Floyd
The Beatles
Elvis
Creedence Clearwater Revival
(sorry that's more than five...I'll stop now)

Agalloch: Why? becuase it's soothing and it's so deep musically the riffs and drums and every instument meshes together like milk and cream. What I think about when listening to it? Hm, I'm not really sure, I usually listen to it while I"m out walking my dog at twilight, so I guess I think about the dark and the cool breeze. while it's still 65 degrees out side.

Skepticism. Same as above

November's doom

My dying bride

Marillion.
