Well there is a risk of toxoplasmosis, but you aren't pregnant as far as I know, nor are you immune compromised.
I can't think of much else, I mean the plague is spread by bugs that live on mice so that was a risk before the cat killed it, not after.
Umm as for finding it, either the cat ate it, or just sniff around the basement, you should smell it in a day or two... ewww

You should only be concerned if someone is pregnant at your house. If not let the cat eat it. If the mouse has a disease called toxoplasmosis and a cat eats it it does nothing to the cat, but the disease can be passed on to humans through their poo. For humans, they can get it with contact with the infected cat poo and then by not washing their habds properly. Humans will get symptoms of a mild cold. the only time this disease is bad is to un unborn baby up to three months. A cat can only pass it on once, and a human can only get it once. If a human has already caught it they become immune to it. You can check this with a blood test. Also a cat can only pass it on the first time they eat an animal with the disease and after that they are immune. So the risks are very minimal. You can't get it by being around a cat. My cat eats mice all the time.

I don't believe that your cat has gottena diseases from the mouse and it is rare for house hold pets to pass sickness to their owner. However, I would take him to the vet, just in case you fear that there might be a rare chance that it has happend. As for the mouse, if you don't find him, the smell with fill the room and that could bring diseses, so go down into the basement and look around or sit your cat there and see if he leads you too the mouse. Once you find him, remove the mouse and then clean the area. Good Luck.

You only have to worry if the traps were set with poison. Otherwise your cat will probably just eat the mouse; but he may bring it back upstairs and leave it for you somewhere. If he does don't freak out; it's his way of giving you a gift. Praise him if he is nearby, if not just throw it away.
