it helps to be famous or Judas Rabbi (he always gets a lot of answers) -- they get featured questions and thousands of answers -- for a normal person -- I would guess an interesting question with an easy answer asked in a category such as Polls and Surveys --- maybe if you click on where it says number of answers http://answers.yahoo.com/dir/index;_ylt=Aua12mgZV0p.C.ia_B.c80vOxQt.?link=&sid=396546444&more=&s=-answer_count you can get a good idea ..

Ask some question that everyone else get interested to answer it. Like are you happy today? or how was your day? or what do you wanna eat today?
You know every people has different interest so it's best to experiment with all kinds of questions.

ask something so stupid, so offensive, that it gets people mad. that seems to work. unfortunately, it usually also gets you reported.
