Genral Pace had been Joint chief of staff for the las 6 years in helping out GBUSH to manage Iraq war. While he spoke so kindly about him they are making it look that he wanted to leave the position. Is he the escape goat that this administration needs to distantiate themselves from Iraq miserable failure?

He probably found his balls and stood up to Cheney. Go to pbs.org and watch last night's Frontline on Iraq.

Actually Pace is not being renominated, because the Democrat Senators told Secretary of Defense Gates, that they would not vote to reconfirm him as Chairmen of the Joint Chiefs.

Evidently the Democrats don't like Pace saying we haven't lost in iraq.

He is not defeatest enough for them.

War with Iraq was won by the US - staying there to run a police state was our error. When you defeat the enemy we should have pillaged their oil and let civil war clean up the mess.

Yes he is - They're afraid his reconfirmation process would go extremely badly so he got resigned, and a new empty suit for the powerless JCOS is going to be put in his place.
