that will bring the Amnesty bill back for a vote in exchange for consideration on certain amendments? Once the "amendments for
amnesty" deal is finalized between Reid and the Republicans, the bill will be quickly brought back to the floor. The amendments will be defeated and amnesty passed. Bush is strong-arming conservatives into accepting the "amendments for amnesty" deal or face being banished into Senate oblivion. this is the FOURTH TIME our leaders have gone behind closed doors to work out some secret scheme to get this bill passed. Despite unprecedented and overwhelming grassroots
opposition, they think they can still pull off their legislative, slight-of-hand trickery! Are you still fighting?

Based on what I saw yesterday I think the bill will not be brought back because conservative Republicans found the country is backing their efforts strongly and they got a backbone out of this.

I imagine you think amnesty is a bad idea, then. Why?

Without amnesty you have a huge unregistered population, without whose labour the economy of most states cannot function. Is amnesty not preferable to a terminal labour shortage, and the concomitant spiral in wages and prices?

Further, without amnesty these illegals of all nationalities will be unable to approach the law for assistance when they are used by organized crime. Were they legalized they would be able and willing to fight back. Is amnesty not preferable to safer cities?

Without amnesty the illegals will be forced to work in subminimum wage jobs, which forces the wages of legal Americans lower. The illegals will also pay no taxes, which will drive YOUR taxes higher. Is amnesty not preferable to low wages and high taxes?

Do you really believe we can make all the illegals go back where they came from? Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse felt the same way, but the immigrants are still coming.

Before you spout off such ill informed nonsense, check the "Know Nothings" in your history books. They had the same things to say about immigrants, but the immigrants were probably your grandparents. Surely if there was room here for our forebears there is room for the so called illegals now.

What would you do? Should we send the Statue of Liberty back to France and tell them we were only fooling? How can we get so worked up about the right to bear arms and ignore the thing that really made this country great?

Fresh blood! Send us your desperate, your ambitious, your pathfinders and they will show us the way to greatness. The know nothing mentality is an anchor tied to the American spirit.

I doubt it will be that simple. Bush is a lame duck & the Senators want to be re-elected. I think this will blow up in everyone's face on both sides of the isle.
