Windows XP includes the My Pictures folder in the list of available desktop backgrounds. To use just a standard picture, browse to c:\windows\web\wallpaper\

This is where the default pictures in Windows XP are stored.

When your on the Desktop (tab) under Display Properties, click Browse and see if you have this folder location called "Backgrounds" in the same location I have mine.

C:\Documents and Settings\yourusername\My Documents\My Pictures\Backgrounds
