in a way he was both as a history major I can say a little on this , what happened in 1776?? the signing of the declaration of independence when America was first founded. so anyone after that who wanted to be American and was born after that date was considered American , George Washington was born in Virginia!! yes I know it's an American state but before it became a state it had English roots being named after the "VIRGIN" Queen but he was born in 1736 which by law made him British because he was born in British territory. there was no America when he was born , this country had no national identity at this point which was made up of many different European colonies but after the revolutionary war George Washington declared himself American so all is good I guess. that's just a short simple answer there is a lot more details history is quit fascinating especially American history which is my Core Focus in college.

If the British forces did that, they may have very well landed themselves into extinction by Hitler in World War II because America would not have lent them the vast sums of money they so desperately needed. British knew that in advance, thats why LOL.

They did their best. it didn't work. The main problem, a more extreme version of the problem the USA now has in Iraq, was too small a force to put down rebellion over too large an area.

Are you implying Britain was peaceful and non-violent. I doubt it obtained such a widespread empire by attacking countries with doves and songs. In fact, at one time there were 100 naval offenses punishable by death. They were masters of torture and punishment. I assure you the Tower of London was not used as a resort.
