the transome is where the motor bolts to, they rot after wear some are wood, some are fiberglass, some are aluminum plated wood/fiberglass and from the force the motor puts on it, replace it asap

The transom is the aft part of the hull (body). If you don't know much about boats (no offense, it sounds like you don't), you should realize that boat repair is time consuming and expensive. If you don't know much about boat repair, you should have a professional fix it, which is REALLY expensive. You should do some research on what boat ownership is all about. If you research it fully, and are honest with yourself, you just might not want one. Almost everyone I know, with exception of the millionaires that I work for, ends up regretting getting a boat. If boating is a TRUE passion of yours, get a boat. If it is kinda something you might want to do, you shouldn't get a boat. I am assuming that you are talking about something a little more than a 'bass' boat.
Just research it first, and if you have a bunch of money that you want to throw away, buy a boat.
Consider renting a boat whenever you want to play in the water, it is much cheaper.

transome work is risky unless you use high quality materials like diamondplate, make sure you always get this thing called a transome saver, it protects your transome from the bumps on the poad and the engine pounding down on it and causing increased wear. unless you have experience, dont buy the boat, no matter how cheap
