My favorite mystery series is written by Kate White. She currently has five novels.
If Looks Could Kill
A Body To Die For
'Til Death Do Us Part
Over Her Dead Body
and the newest
Lethally Blonde
Kate White is the Editor-In-Cheif of Cosmopolitan magazine. The books I would suggest are for people ages 18 to about 35, but I'm sure others can enjoy just as well!
She mixes mystery with a fresh sense of fashion, passion, and murder. :-)

Johnathon Kellerman Faye Kellerman P. D. James Kathy Reichs Robert B. Parker Dick Francis Patricia Cornwell Elmore Leonard Janet Evanovich--These reports are speedy readin and too humorous. She will maintain you in stitches. All of those writers a prolific and write in sequence as good as a couple of stand alones. Get your self to the library and get began. This is solely the fast record. Just idea of a few extra...Sue Grafton, Lisa Scottolini, Michael Chriton, Michael Connely.

I am biased but you could read the Mrs. Jeffries series - there are twenty-three books in the series. They are about a household of amateur detective working for a Victorian Scotland Yard detective named Inspector Witherspoon.
This is a shameless plug by her husband - who helps with the plotting but not the writing!
The last book came out in May - next book in October.
They are also carried by Borders and Barnes and Noble.

This is defintely more for adults but check out the Alphabet series (A is for Alibi, B is for Burgla) by Sue Grafton. Good stuff.
Also, have you considered Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes mysteries?

Sue Grafton has a great series out with a female detective as her lead character. They are named for lettler of the alaphabet. Linda Barnes does a great series with Carlotta Carlyle as her femaile detective, and JA Jance has her Joanna Brady series where Joanna is elected sherrif of a small Arizona town. Hope you find something you enjoy.

The Sammy Keyes (or is it Keys??) Mysteries are for the younger set. They're very enjoyable and harken back to the Harriet the Spy series.
