Physics does not deal with why. The moon orbit the earth, just like a satelite for similar physical principles of circular motion. Gravity occur between any two masses and depends on the distance. Einstein hypothsized that gravity is by curved space (like a bowl) but I am pretty sure no one can explain WHY two objects attract each other from two different sides of the universe.

everything has gravity (well not light or stuff, but u get the point) the larger the "weight" the greater the gravity, that is mass times density, so the earth has enough gravity to pull the moon around itself

moon is attracted by earths gravity which is balanced by the centrifugal force (the force that pulls moon away while it is rotation around earth) so moon just revolves round earth neither it gets close to earth nor it does escape earths gravitational pull
