nightserf,
Why do Republicans support pouring billions of dollars into Iraq without holding the Iraqi's responsible?
Since the question is so hard to understand otherwise I figured I clarify it for you. I'm sure you'll have a great answer now that you can understand it.

*Iraqis*
I realize that Iraqis is not a possessive adjective. Moment of stupidity.

That is the $65 billion question.

I am past counting how many billions of dollars have been spent on Iraq. I think we are close to half a trillion by now.

We could fix Social Security, Universal Health Care, Renewable Fuels, and maybe even answer the gay marriage question with that kind of money.

Wingspan - you have stumbled onto a dirty little secret about the Republicans. They promise much and deliver little. Some would argue that they actually take away (record debt).

The Republicans are supported (financially) by a small percentage of Americans - roughly 5% of the population. But it is a special 5% - it's the 5% with all of the money.

If you stop to think about it, it's a great arrangement. You only have to satisfy those 5% and forget about the remaining 95% until it's time to be reelected.

Just prior to reelection, you tell the voters what they want to hear (you need another 50% to win > 50% + 5% = 55%).

Here's how you do it:

10% - anti abortion, anti gay, anti everything else
10% - promise to keep me safe and secure
10% - tell me you love God and go to church every Sunday
10% - tell me you are a good old boy, love to drink beer and watch NASCAR
10% - tell me how evil the Democrats are

See how easy it is ?

The average American has never been a priority for our political leadership. This is because every time we go to the voting booth, we reward them with our votes. Think about it - you are renewing the contract of someone who cares less about your welfare. And you keep doing it - year after year after year. Is it any wonder that our country is where it is and why our politicians reward only those at the top ?

First off, it is extremely single minded to say that Washington isn't looking out for its own. The majority, Cheney being in the minority, of politicians are in the business because they wholeheartedly believe in America and feel as if they can better it in some way. The real problem here isn't that Washington is ignoring its people, but rather that's it hinging its decisions on their grand fantasies. The public has this idea that America is some infallible nation that can never be wrong. So in turn when the government does make the occasional mistake, like say invading Iraq, they find it difficult to admit to said mistake. Its the double-edged sword of democracy. Sure the people rule, but how many of those people are fit to?

The same reason why the U.S. poured billions into Germany after World War II. It's an investment that promotes American interests in the Middle Eat through influence. This ultimately creates a government that will resist any participation in tyrrany and terrorism. If they don't invest in it, it will fall victim to the influence of neighboring countries.

To convey democracy and freedom to the middle east. Out of the money we did spend on case in point the levees in New Orleans that money grew to become into earmarked to repair and safeguard the levee equipment and the fullyyt Democrat controlled gov't and human beings in cost of this stole the money and spent it how they deemed greater healthful. extremely in many cases this grew to become into in basic terms in my view taking it. i'm happy our money is going in the direction of protecting united states of america of america now and sooner or later. that's lots greater efficient than giving it away on corruption and waste. i'm in prefer of States fixing roads regardless of the undeniable fact that that may not the federal place. The politiicians that don't take care of their infrastruction could be prosecuted if it leads to wreck. In Minnesota there have been comments going returned over 10 years that the bridge grew to become into going to interrupt down and no person did something approximately it. that's no longer Iraq's fault any further than the levees breaking for the period of Katrina being everybody's fault different than the community gov't that omitted their levee equipment while they asked money for it, have been given the money by utilizing the Federal gov't then transferred it to different initiatives. those human beings could be in reformatory.

I support helping Iraq, but I would require accountability for sure. I think we need accountability in ALL things. Especially when it is the tax payers money. Ultimately someone needs to be accountable to the public on what is done with the money.

When you use the word "them" in a sentence, it has to refer back to a plural noun either in that sentence or in the one before. It can't refer back to "Republicans" because that is the implied subject of the phrase. That leaves "billions" and "dollars." Which of those do you expect the Republicans to hold accountable? The second sentence is incomplete, having no subject.

If you can't write a clear question, how do you expect a clear answer?

It's the old misdirection of popular discontent. If you give the people a tangible enemy, who they can fear, you can convince them to do whatever you want. Hitler had the Jews, and Dubyuh has "furners". As for helping Americans who need help, right-wing ideology tells us that if you need help, it's because you are lazy, stupid and not favored by God, so it's your own damn fault!

it is much easier to get a kick back under the table from Iraq than it is to get kick backs from American aid and grants etc, same way they give $billions of our hard earned dollars to Israel, Apac will always return a % under the table to our politicians who vote for this graft to Israel
