That depends. Some British people like it, some don't. Just like some Americans like ice and some don't. It's all a matter of opinion. Person A's opinion can be that ice is good; Person B's opinion can be that is bad. It's just different opinions no matter where you go. Don't worry about it.

Very few people (except religious nutters) hate anything and no-one I know hates inanimate objects. Many British people do not like ice in drinks, that is their custom. There is, however, a huge difference between a personal preference and "hate".
