i had sex with my girlfriend on friday(06-08-07) and she went to the doctors with her mom(06-13-07), and she says she's pregnant. Can you really get that conclusion in that short amount of time?

If your girlfriend took a blood test (and not a urine test), then it's possible to determine she is pregnant.

She's got your number sweety. If she can tell in 5 days then she is good. If the Dr did a blood test, I suppose it is possible. BUT. I would ask to see her receipt or something. That is awfully quick.
There isn't much online info about the actual first week. I know there is a point quite early *within the first 2 weeks* that you can test for and register the hormone that is in the blood with pregnancy (hCG). Everything that I found with a search about this says it takes approx. 2 weeks AFTER her first missed period to measure with a home pregnancy test. A blood test from the Dr is MUCH more sensitive though.
GOOD LUCK!!!! And if you are not ready to be a father DO NOT be having SEX. That will solve the problem next time.

The earliest you can test for pregnancy is 7 days past conception. That is the absolute earliest and even then most women don't produce enough hCG to detect it. If she is truly pregnant I would seriously get a DNA test.
Another thing is, sperm can live for up to 3 days inside a womans body, and she could get pregnant even up to three days after intercourse if she ovulated on those days. She would have to have gotten pregnant on the day you had sex in order for her have the slim possibility of confirming pregnancy that soon. Ask some questions and get a test done after the baby is born.

AHHH, YYYEEEEAAAAHHHH....
Pregnancy test look for certain hormone chemicals in the body that are only present as a result of conception... They can be detected as early as 48 hours after intercourse....
BUT... "SOME" women think that it is "O.K." to play the "pregnancy card" in order to get attention that may not normally be given. This is really messed up on their part because they need to feel a sense of power and control in order to be comfortable emotionally. They are insecure with themselves and who they are so they look for a reason to get control to feel emotionally secure...
Keep in mind that not all women are like this... Know your partner inside as well as out before intimacy

I agree with Tats- with just a home test she probably wouldn't have known, but since she went to the doctor, I'm betting she does. Now's the time to be a man and support her!

Oh yeah. Home pregnancies test work before you even miss your first period. I wouldn't expect a doctor would even test though until she missed a period. I would say they are yanking your chain as to the doctor.
But seriously, we have four kids and believe me, I knew before I missed a period if I was pregnant

only five days... damn son you got some bad luck, that means she was literaaly ovulating the day of or day before you had sex on the 8th, conception can take up to three days, since she had already ovulated, your lil swimmers nailed her egg, it is probably embedding itself into the wall of her uterus as we speak,,,, a sad day for you my friend, unless you were tryin, but the words girlfriend and mom dont sound like you were.
she is preggers, your life as you knew it is now over... shoulda coulda woulda used a condom if you knew this was gonna happen.. but hindsight is 20/20

No, she must have been pregnant before then. If she conceived on the 8th with you, she would just have been implanting on the 13th and the tests would be negative. She either flat out lying, or got pregnant before then.
