Honestly, I think it's most respected in Japan. I've read a lot of wrestling books and they all say that the Japanese are VERY respectful of it. They aren't the type of fans that jump around all crazy and chant. They are the kind that sit there in complete awe and appreciation. They even put wrestling in their newspapers because it's a huge thing down there. WQ1: I'm a big fan of luche libre, but I love England's old school style as well. The Japanese are a great mix of both. WQ2: Probably not. American's are very close-minded. It pisses me off. A sport is defined as a physical motion displayed by one or more men on opposing teams. It doesn't really matter whether wrestling is pre-determined. I think everyone who has such a problem with wrestling should get in the ring and try to wrestle a match. They'll crawl between the ropes crying. WQ3: Japanese wrestlers haven't been that successful here unfortunately. Jushin Liger is one, though. From Mexico, of course, guys like Rey Mysterio jump out the most. Chris Jericho and Benoit spent a lot of time in both Mexico and Japan. Lita spent years in Mexico and she was a huge hit. England - William Regal, definately. British Bulldogs.

Traditionally I would say Japan or Mexico, their crowds are more consistant (WWE has lost a great deal of their audience, in the late 90's they were getting three times the ratings....and WCW was getting the same or better depending on the time frame.......)

In the current market, Japanese Wrestling (puroresu) has been down. Alot of this can be attributed to the 'americanizing' of All Japan Pro Wrestling.

I would say right now Mexico.

Japan and Mexico. Wrestling results appear in newspapers in Japan. I'm glad you asked this question, because it gives me a chance to do this:

In Japan, wrestling is a sport
In Canada, wrestling is a tradition
In Mexico, wrestling is a religion
In America, wrestling is a joke

Japan loves their wrestling, but Mexico has birthed their own style...the Luchadores

although Canada has trained many of the finest, that doesn't mean the whole country loves it

so, considering the fact that sooooo many US dollars are spent on wrestling...my order would be

USA, Mexico, Japan, and Canada

darn good question...really!!

Mexico or USA.Both love wrestling, however Mexicans are more open to admitting it because they don't look down on wrestling as some soap opera and instead just watch cheer and continue to be amazed by the death defying maneuvers of the luchador style.(this is not to criticize USA fans just simply to state a fact)

Each and every country has got it own respective towards wrestling. For instance USA has a peculiar attention towards Wrestling compared with Japanese wrestling culture and style. While the former aims to turn its attention towards the number one contendor in Wrestling, the later names the number one contender as "Yoko Zuna"

I believe that the Japanese are the most captivated by professional wrestling as well as they're submission fighters.

But, the US of A comes in a close second!
