If you add a decimal point and extra zeroes after, you can divide the two. In your example, you would be dividing 85.0 by 105. You can see that 105 goes into 850 8 times with 10 as the leftover. Carry down another 0, and you have 100/105. This goes into 0 times. Bring down another 0, divide again, etc.

it does.. if you put a decimal on the answer and add a zero to the end of 85 it is divisible.. then it starts with everything behind the decimal.. its just like when you have a remainder and you need to keep dividing.

what you do is pretend that 85 is 85.0000000, and you divide that way. gets pretty long, but that's how it works.

Try this method

==> Any small number's are divided by Larger Number follow these steps

Step1:

first convert numerator as a large compared in to denominator.

(i.e) question is

85 / 105 ==> multiply both numerator and denominator by 10.

(85 * 10) / (105*10) ==> You get 850 / ( 105 * 10 )

Step2:

now you divide 850 by 105

( 850 / 105 ) * (1/10) ==> 8.0952380 / 10 ==> 0.80952380

You got it..........
