Dear fisherman 120,

There are three main factors that determine how the Heat will do this year compared to last year:

#1: Wade's Health: In the thin East, one player can take a team far. Just look at LeBron and the Cavs this year, and if Agent Zero had been healthy maybe they would be in the Finals. Wade is a superstar and we know that the Heat will surround him with enough talent.

#2: Shaq's Health: Shaq's injury prone and his game is declining. He may only have a run or two left so we'll see how much mileage is left in the Big guy. He looked done but then we saw so flashes of old Shaq during a stretch when D. Wade was out and everyone thought the Heat were done.

#3: Off-season moves: Their are rumors the Heat are one of the front runners to get Ron Artest. So if they make the right moves esp. with the East as weak as it is, D. Wade and a good supporting cast, with Riley's coaching they have shot!

The heat are ti ikd Shaq is like 50 and so is mourning. D-Wade is incredible, but no ONE player can carry a team as King James is proving right now. I think they might have a chance to go to the playoffs next year, but they need some younger talent besides wade. shaq can;t play 40 minutes a game and produce like he use to. They need to rebuild around wade and in a year or two i can see them being the best in their division easy.

depending on what happens to the Pistons, and if Dwayne Wade can fully recover from his injury, the Heat can probably get either deep into a second round series, or the Conference Finals. But the state of the team will not take them back to the Finals, unless they don't face the Pistons in the playoffs, and LeBron James like dies or something.

No, Bulls outplayed the Heat through out the whole series. Heat are getting way too old, Shaq can no longer dominate as much as he used to. Walker, and Payton is up there too. They are gonna have to rely more on Wade and White Chocolate's speed and Kapono's 3 point shooting and Haslem's tenacious defense and rebounding skills. But IMO, Heat are gonna have to go through much better teams such as a more mature Bulls team, veteran Pistons team, capable Cavs team, rising Raptors team, and maybe even the Magic team if they get their coach problem settled down.

Due to the East mediocrity, anybody could be in the finals, as demonstrated by the Cavs.

But unless they make any significant acquisition during this offseason, I see the Heat losing even if they reach the NBA Finals.

I don't see them beating the elite of the West with their current line-up which will just be another year older when the NBA opens next season.

No, I don't think so. They're aging and injury-prone while a couple of guys might (and should) retire so a total overhaul is in order for the team. I'm sure Shaq and Wade will be there but they badly need new and younger talents around them.

My Answer: Miami has more than potential. They'll at least make it to the second round next season.

injury and age is the biggest concern for Miami. Can they invest in some miracle youth pills or something?

i say they will atleast make it to the second round. the only reason they got swept this year was because dwayne wade was still not at 100% from the dislocated shoulder injury.
