Come on, a top ten list, maybe.
The Beatles Rule because they gave Rock and Roll the blast it needed to fall into a very wonderful groove.
The Rolling Stones were the bad boys of rock, and demonstrate a kind of longevity that rock has never seen before, and may not see again.
The Who provided the theme songs for gobs of CSI shows. And lots of other smokin' songs, too.
The Band produced several impeccable albums and a sound that knocked my socks off.
Tom Petty albums cheer me up in a heartbeat, The Last DJ excepted although that's a great LP, too.
That's only 5, so to bring it up to 10, Cream, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Grateful Dead, U2.
My favorite? I'd have to go with a tie, The Beatles and Pink Floyd.

The Beatles are not only the best rock band of all time, but will remain as such for a long time to come. The sounds and styles that they originated are still be used by bands today. The quality of the music is unsurpassed. Although I agree that McCartney is a great musician and artist, I strongly feel that the heart and soul of the band was John Lennon.

They are what I think represent the best all time favorite rock bands!

the Beatles, they have covered and invented so many styles of rock. McCartney is a genius of our times. Not many of them anymore.
