Marriage is the commitment and love shared between two caring and loving individuals.

1000 years ago there were no such things as "marriage licenses".

And in many cultures today, marriage remains the trust and love between two people and that the families are pleased the two are together.

No baloney ceremony, no pre-nups, no licenses. It's just that simple and it used to be that simple.

But since western culture has followed for the last 300 years the old Roman property rights ceremonies which governed the "marriages" of wealthy citizens, our view of marriage is distorted by property, licenses, wealth and ownership.

Marriage isn't about materialism - it's about the trust, love and commitment between the two. Nothing else.
