I had an ultrasound at 38 weeks and my baby weighed 6lbs 13oz. I delivered 2 days shy of 40 weeks and she weighed 7lbs. 14.4oz. They say babies at the end gain half a pound a week, so if that's true, then my u/s doctor was right on target give or take an ounce. The u/s aren't totally accurate though, so don't be surprised if your baby is a lot bigger or smaller than what the u/s says. Good Luck.

Before I gave birth to my first son, the doc said he would weigh right at 5 lbs. He came out only a few days later at 6lbs. 3oz. They also told me with this pregnancy that they changed my due date from June 22nd to July 27th, but I KNOW when I got pregnant, I KNOW how far along I am and I have already dropped and have had contractions on and off, so they go by measurements but very seldom are they correct. And now days I am starting to hear alot more people say they were told it was a girl or boy and it came out being the opposite. I think you just have to wait til lil love gets here to see what they weigh and if it is even what you expected as far as sex. Good luck and best wishes!

The doctors are only giving you an estimate based on the measurements done during the ultrasound and also what you and your husband may have weighed at birth. My son was estimated to be between 7-8 pounds and he was only 6 pounds 3 ounces when he was born.

according to my doc, you can't get an accurate weight on the baby. I asked. He said they can tell you small, right size, or large. He said they could guess, but it's usually off by at least a pound due to the extreme weight gain the baby has during the last few weeks.

The obgyn told me my daughter would weigh 5-6 lbs the day before I went into labor, I gave birth to a 7lb 2 oz baby girl. Just wait it out. You'll know when the baby gets here. :)

They are only giving you their best guess. Ultrasound is not a perfect science and they are very often wrong in their calculations.
They were off with both of my babies. Estimated my son would be just 5 pounds. He was 6.5 at birth.
They said my daughter would be 6 pounds. She was 7.3

With my first they did a ultrasound and estimated that he would be about 9 pounds closer to 10. I was freaking out! He was actually born 8pds 8oz. So they were kinda close, but not right on with me.

This lady at my church was huge!! Her doctor told her she was going to have a 10 lb baby, and she end up having a 7-8 lb baby! Doctor's estimations are sometimes really off!

My OB was wrong with both babies.
my first said he would be 10lb and was 7lb 13 oz(10 days Early, but I don't think it would be that different)and my second he said 8lb and he was 9 lb 6 oz on my exact due date.
I mean how could they really know exact?
It's just a guess.
